I think one of the reasons that many people think the Templars are evil baddies and the Assassins are saints is that in AC2 and AC:B, the Templars are cast almost exclusively as evil oppressors, and at the same time, nothing causes the mainstream gamer to question whether what Ezio is doing is right. Like in the first AC, when each Templar died, they talked for about a minute as to how the Templars were riteous (not sure if that's spelled right), and how the Assassin's caused just as much death, really causing the player (and Altair) to doubt the Assassins. I only hope they manage to do the same with AC3.
