I noticed a distinct lack of gameplay data in this wiki. I saw a talkpage comment about how this was by design, and I'm wondering why. This wiki is for all things Assassin's Creed. Since most of the AC content comes to us through the video games, it makes no sense to leave out this information. I could point to numerous other lore-heavy video game wikis that incorporate lore and gameplay data in their articles with no problem. What makes AC any different? Tbh, part of the issue is no one really bothered to add and maintain information on how to play the games as they arrived each year. They're really easy afterall. --Alientraveller (talk) 21:50, August 31, 2014 (UTC)
This always kinda bothered me too, especially the way categories are kept; there's no categories by piece of media of origin/appearance, and things like that would be really useful when navigating. Other things like weapons are kept by time period, when really they're more gameplay element than anything else and when various things take place in the same time period things could get muddy as for which game do the various weapons belong. That's not to say that the wiki should suddenly focus on gameplay, the lore focus it currently has is very good, but I feel like it could be useful to also acknowledge the media all this lore comes from. I've made it perfectly clear in weapons articles precisely which game they can be found in, and how people can get them. If there's anything more I could possibly do, I haven't the faintest idea what. I've thought about using categories like "Weapons wielded by Ezio Auditore" to make it a bit easier to find desired weapons, but I haven't really had the time to seriously consider this properly yet, let alone discuss this with anyone. --Crimson Knight Intercom 23:30, August 31, 2014 (UTC)
It has been voted that we take a lore-only approach and that's how it will remain for the time being. Having both lore-related terms and gameplay-related terms clutters up the wiki, so we have chosen one route. Slate Vesper (talk) 23:28, August 31, 2014 (UTC)
Like I said I don't buy that excuse. There are plenty of wikis for story-driven games that incorporate both lore and gameplay data in their articles and do it well. I feel that this wiki community is shirking its responsibility to catalog and present important, highly-relevant data if it supports 'your' policy. FarmerBob12 (talk) 07:10, September 1, 2014 (UTC)
Mind pointing to some of these "numerous wikis" that mix both gameplay and lore well? Claiming that they exist hardly helps illustrate your point and deprives us of the ability to judge whether or not this is actually true. I'd like to see how they do it, genuinely. Speaking from the time I've been here, we try to be an encyclopedia, not a game guide. That is not an "excuse" so much as a decision that has been made by the administrators and bureaucrats.
Personally, I think we're doing alright with the lore focus, but I agree with Zero-ELEC that gameplay categories such as "Assassin's Creed II characters" or "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag weapons" can be useful for navigation. I don't really mind that we don't use them, but I can see why they'd be handy. As for actual gameplay information in articles, I'm a bit iffy on that. Because this is the first wiki I started editting on, I'm not sure how lore+gameplay articles would work, if at all.Crook The Constantine District 07:51, September 1, 2014 (UTC)
Some examples of lore/gameplay wikis I've used: Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Warcraft. unsigned comment by FarmerBob12 (talk · contr)
The difference with those RPG games however is that there's lore, but no canon. AC has a canon because it's about history. --Alientraveller (talk) 17:25, September 1, 2014 (UTC)

Well, if you feel we are 'shirking' our duty, why don't you just create your own "assassin's creed gameplay wiki"? :) Nesty Contact me! 07:13, September 1, 2014 (UTC)

There must be a way to have invisible, out-of-universe categories on the pages, for the user to access should they desire. The templates in the top right corner aren't enough frankly. --Alientraveller (talk) 10:35, September 1, 2014 (UTC)

That would defeat the point of them being invisible if people could easily access them. Slate Vesper (talk) 21:26, September 1, 2014 (UTC)
