Adrestia is the Greek goddess of revolt, the balance between good and evil, and just retribution. As the daughter of Ares and Aphrodite she often accompanies Ares during his wars.
Mythology[edit | edit source]
When the Titan Rhea hid her son Zeus from his father Kronos on Mount Ida in Messara, Krete, Adrestia took care of the infant together with her sister, the nymph Melissa.[1]
Influence[edit | edit source]
Sometime before the Peloponnesian War, Barnabas became the captain of the trireme Adrestia, named after the goddess.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
In Greek mythology, Adrestia is the sister of Eros, Anteros, Phobos, Deimos, and Harmonia.
The Greek word Ἀδρήστεια means 'inescapable' or 'she who cannot be escaped', and was also an epithet of the goddess of retribution, Nemesis.
