Asterios (died 403 BCE) was a Spartan commander stationed at Munychia Fort alongside Kallias.
Biography
In 403 BCE, Asterios was responsible for the western section of the fort, while Kallias was left with the eastern section. On the night of the Battle of Munychia, he had a conversation with one of his subordinates about Thrasybulus's taking of Phyle, disagreeing with the claim that the army was ten thousand men strong, arguing that the originator of the claim was a coward and the army was at most a tenth of that. A short while later, he was assassinated by the misthios Kassandra, allowing Thrasybulus' forces to take the fort.[1]
