Oskoreia was a pagan festival celebrated by Norse people during the Viking expansion to celebrate the harvest, honor the dead and protect their settlements from the Wild Hunt.
History
Oskoreia festivals were held at Ravensthorpe, where the settlement was furnished with decorations,[1] including a ship with the names of the dead carved into its hull.[2] Residents prepared to protect their village from the Wild Hunt, practicing their riding,[3] shooting,[4] and fighting.[5]
Behind the scenes
As part of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's post-launch content, an Oskoreia Season event was added to the settlement mechanic for a limited time. The first in-game event ran from 11 November–9 December 2021,[6][7] and the second event ran from 20 October–10 November 2022.[8]
