Louisiana Bayou
The Bayou was a marsh-filled area near to New Orleans, which held little dry ground. It was inhabited by smugglers and other outcasts, and alligators were rife in the area, as they had a notorious reputation for attacking unsuspecting prey from the atop the banks or beneath the murky waters.
As such, this made trees both a faster and a safer option for navigation to the French-African Assassin Aveline de Grandpré, who explored the area at some point in her life.
