Lineage Discovery and Acquisition, alternatively called Lineage Research and Acquisition, was a department of Abstergo Industries responsible for locating and acquiring people with unique or important lineages. These subjects were often used in the company's initiatives dealing with genetic memory, including the Animus Project and Project Legacy.

The department took part in the capture of at least three people closely related to the Assassin Order: Daniel Cross (Subject 4),[1] Clay Kaczmarek (Subject 16),[2] and Desmond Miles (Subject 17).[3]

It also included a medical division, where subjects' physical and psychological health were evaluated by a medical examiner.[4]

In 2012, the department's known employees included research executive Dr. Mitsuko Nakamura,[5] operations executive Otto Schmidt,[5] medical examiner Damian Saravakos[4] and a certain David involved in acquisition.[3]
