La Balize was a French fort and settlement in Louisiana in the 18th century. From early 1766 to 1768, it was the home of the territory's Spanish governor Antonio de Ulloa.

  • The name of the town is a French term loaned from Portuguese, meaning 'seamark, landmark'.
