John Hammon was a wealthy man who was a mutual friend of Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin in the 19th century.

Biography

Early Life

Hammon was born into a wealthy family and was the only child of his father. He was apparently an explorer and or archeologist, as he is reported to have lived in South Africa for most of his life. He also became “mutual” friends with Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin.

Return to London

After Hammon's father passed away, he was the sole inheritor. He was also set to marry a woman named Bella Wilton. He decided to return to London to marry his bride and collect his inheritance. When he returned to London, his friends Dickens and Darwin got one of the Frye twins to protect him, as they feared he would be robbed. When Frye went to meet Hammon at the Waterloo train station, Hammon expressed concern of marrying his wife, as he had never met her before and worried that she was marrying him for his money. As Hammon leaves the train station, four Blighters attempt to rob and kill Hammon, though Frye kills all of them. Hammon gets an idea to make it seem like the robbers succeeded in killing Hammon, so he could see his fiancée's reaction, and framed one of the bodies as his own, and tossed it into the Thames. He then reported to his fiancé Bella that he had died, and she was deeply upset.

Hammon, now in love with Bella decided to stage an attack on her, so he could rescue her. He got one of the Frye twins to act as a robber, and proceeded to have them “kidnap” Bella. Hammon then jumps in and stages a fight with Frye, and proceeded to “rescue” Bella, which she found a bit suspicious. Hammon and Bella then proceeded to get married.
