Haras.

Haras (died 1189) was an undercover Templar spy in the Assassin Order, and instigator of a Templar attack on Masyaf.

In 2012, his genetic memories were used by the Templar company Abstergo Industries, for the training of their Animus recruits, under the title of the Crusader.

Biography

In 1189, Haras betrayed the Assassin Order, and led an army of Templars to attack the Assassins' fortress of Masyaf. Many Assassins were killed in the defense, and Al Mualim was captured. The Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad tries to kill Haras, but not while he threatened him with the death of Al Mualim. Haras then promptly retreated to the now Templar-occupied fortress, and proceeds to start killing off the other Assassin hostages with his crossbow. However, Altaïr had scaled the fortress walls, and manages to kill Haras in an air assassination. As Haras dies, he regrets having the hubris to not believe in the creed.

• Haras: You put too much faith in the hearts of men, Altaïr. The Templars know the truth. Humans are weak, base and petty.
• Altaïr: No, our creed is evidence to the contrary.
• Haras: *scoffs* Perhaps I am not wise enough to understand, but I suspect the opposite; that I am too wise to believe such rubbish.
