Algiers was the capital city of Algeria.

In 1511, King Samis El Felipe was captured by the Spanish King, and Ottoman Assassins sent from Constantinople by Ezio Auditore da Firenze sent several letters back and forth from his prison to keep in contact with him.

The amir Selim of Algiers also proposed to turn a blind eye to the activities of the Assassins in Algiers in return for protection of a community of Moors living on the island Penon, captured by the Spanish.

The Ottoman Assassins also took over Algiers from Templar control, and restored and expanded the city, also installing several Assassin Dens.
