Assassin's Creed II==

Giovanni Auditore da Firenze (1436 - 1476) is the father of Ezio Auditore da Firenze. He was a nobleman, working as a banker for the Medici, but was truly an Assassin. He was raised and trained along with his brother Mario as an Assassin, and has been aware of the Templars for almost all of his life. Besides his brother, he had a wife, Maria Auditore, three sons (Ezio, Federico and Petruccio) and a daughter, Claudia. He was a descendant of Altair and an ancestor of Desmond Miles.

Giovanni is the main character of the Assassin's Creed world-based short film: Assassin's Creed: Lineage. Trying to uncover the conspiracy behind the assassination of The Duke Of Milan, leading towards an even bigger conspiracy causing a massive change of power, and the Inevitable demise of Giovanni himself.

Trivia

  • Giovanni's ring finger remains intact due to improvements to the Hidden Blade and changes to the tactics and traditions of the Assassin order made by Altaïr after the events of the first game. It is revealed during Ezio's Assassins Ceremony that instead of removing the ring finger, it is instead branded with the assassins seal and covered with a ring.
  • Giovanni died before telling Ezio (as well as his other sons, Petruccio and Federico, and daughter Claudia) of their assassin heritage which disappointed his brother, Mario.
  • Giovanni's close friendship with the Medicis began when Giovanni's father saved young Lorenzo's life from drowning.
  • At the end of his life, Giovanni seems to have also been a stronger sword fighter than Ezio. Ezio fought with Rodrigo Borgia several times over the years; but Giovanni was such a fearsome adversary that Rodrigo fled from his first confrontation with him, after nearly getting his throat cut, and never engaged him in direct combat again. Giovanni also seems to have been more agile in combat, being able to perform various kinds of flips as opposed to simply dodging.
  • On the other hand, Ezio overall surpassed Giovanni as an Assassin, due in part to his advanced and more versatile arsenal, but also because of his superior skills in stealth and escape.
  • Giovanni knew about Ezio's Eagle vision, but it is unknown if he himself possessed this gift.
  • While Ezio's Short Blade is next to his sword, Giovanni's Short Blade is kept on his leggings.
  • Giovanni is never seen wearing actual Armor.
  • Giovanni only ever seemed to carry two throwing knives at once, which is far less than any other Assassin shown using them. The reason for this is unknown, but it is possible that he only carried them to have a complete arsenal since they clearly weren't his favored form of combat. In fact, the reason for the absence of multiple knives might be due to a lack of great skill in using them (as Giovanni is never shown actually killing someone with a throwing knife) therefore choosing not to weigh himself down with extra ammunition.
  • Giovanni leaves his assassin outfit behind for Ezio to find, however in the short-film 'Assassin's Creed: Lineage', it does not have the 'Eagle's beak', as Ezio has on his hood, while it is safe to assume that the outfit seen in Lineage is likely the same outfit Ezio finds in the Auditore Ville. A possible reason for the missing beak on his hood, is because it is said that it hinders one man's vision, so it would have been difficult for the actor to wear it, who depicted Giovanni in the short-film.
