Compiègne is a commune in northern France.

History

On August 1429, Jeanne d'Arc, Gabriel Laxart, Alençon and Fleur went to Compiègne to meet with King Charles VII and his council to plan the future siege of Paris, though Charles hesitated and Trémoille made sure that Jeanne did not attend all meetings, keeping secrets from the maid.[1]

Though Compiègne had pledged loyalty to Charles VII, it was given back to Philip III of Burgundy against their will and the citizens resisted Philip when he came to claim them. On 23 May 1430, Jeanne and a few of her men were taken prisoner at Compiègne.[2]
