The Centaurs are a race of half-horse, half-human creatures featuring in the Greek mythology.

History

According to the stories, the Erymanthos Foothills was regarded as a location where centaurs lived. True enough, while on his way to find the Erymanthian Boar, Herakles met the centaurs Pholos and Chiron.

Influence

Atalanta, the princess of Arkadia, had gained fame as a slayer of centaurs in 6th century BCE.

During the Peloponnesian War, a member of The Silver Vein branch of the Cult of Kosmos, The Centaur of Euboea, chose a cryptonym evoking the creatures.

During the Renaissance, a painting by Sandro Botticelli, Pallas and the Centaur, hung within Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni.
