Boura

Boura was a small village located within the Erymanthos Peaks in Achaia, Greece. It was said to be named either after Bura or the centaur Dexamenos, both figures in Greek mythology.[1]
History
During the Peloponnesian War, a group of villagers attempting to flee Achaia through sea were forced to relocate to Boura for safety, after the city was blockaded by the fleet led by Phila, the Magus of the Order of the Storm.[2]
The misthios Kassandra followed the advice of a woman named Kleta, and met her in the village to find alternative way to leave Achaia. Kassandra was soon directed to meet an old man named Orontas near a cliff. Before they could converse, they were interrupted by arrival of several Persian soldiers.[3]
Trivia
- Historically, Boura was an ancient polis and was one of the 12 cities of the Achaean League. The city was swallowed by an earthquake that destroyed the nearby city of Ruins of Helike.
