None of this is real. I have to wake up. Why can't I wake up?

I found a red gate. I swear I saw daylight beyond it, but it's locked. Five seals hold it shut, each tied to a totem.

I tried everything, but only a mantra worked. When I chanted it, the totem started to crack. But in the panic, I stumbled on my words and something awoke.

A monster. I ran. I fought. I bled. Nothing stopped it. I tried everything: shuriken, kunai, even a katana strike.

Your orders are to arrest the defector Gautwin Brunsdecker and return him to the palace to answer for his crimes. We found notes on reinforcing subterranean structures in Lord Albrecht's chambers: one of Gautwin's accomplices. The defectors have likely taken shelter somewhere underground.

Remember: Gautwin is a Shifter. Do not be fooled by his meek exterior. He is dangerous.

It's difficult to tell time down here, but it must have been at least two days since Sue-O disappeared with all of our surveying gear—including our food and water. I told the fool he was too heavy for that rope. I've debated whether I should follow him into the mist rather than waste away here, but the truth is, it frightens me.

The Inner Sanctum has bestowed upon me a great honour, the exalted rank of Templar Black Cross. My father remained as stoic as ever when he presented me with the Hathaway family sword. When he put it into my hands, he made me promise to fulfill a mission he could not: to find a mysterious precursor site known as The Observatory. I will not fail him. Every attempt to locate the Observatory or a Piece of Eden ends with me standing empty-handed, surrounded by Kassandra's presence. It happened on the Isle of Skye and the Ionian Isles. Now in Marrakech. The Scottish cave held a pedestal, where a Piece of Eden once rested, long since removed. The vault in Marrakech contained an Isu axe, devoid of power. I cannot shake teh feeling that the axe was placed here recently, perhaps to placate the avarice of lesser men. Could Kassandra still be alive? The idea seems to be laughable. And yet...

I acquired the illustrations while Nirmala disposed of the scholar with great enthusiasm. Could this be the Observatory? I will make my way there in due course. Perhaps I can finally put Kassandra's nonsense behind me.
