Lawrence Washington (1718 – July 1752) was the Master Templar of the Templar Order in the northern colonies of North America, and the half-brother of George Washington, who became the first President of the United States.
Biography
Search for the Grand Temple
In 1738, Reginald Birch, Grand Master of the British Templars, sent Washington a letter in which he notified Washington of his desire to find the Grand Temple, hidden somewhere in the New World, and tasked him with finding it.
Twelve years later, however, Washington received another letter from Birch, who was displeased with Washington's failure to find any First Civilization artifacts and the foundation of an Assassin Brotherhood in the colonies. In response, Birch arranged the transfer of his agent, Colonel George Monro, to the colonies.
In 1751, Washington managed to find a trail leading to the First Civilization. While his brother George had caught a case of smallpox and was recovering, Lawrence left for Port-au-Prince and tracked down the local Assassins under the leadership of François Mackandal. He followed the Assassin Vendredi to a cave leading to a First Civilization temple.
While Washington was lying in wait, an earthquake struck, and Vendredi's legs were crushed beneath the debris. Washington offered to free him in exchange for Mackandal's location, though Washington ultimately decided to slit his throat after Vendredi agreed. Washington snuck into Mackandal's camp, and stole the Precursor box and manuscript, and returned with the artifacts to Virginia.
