In Assassin's Creed III, several outfits are available to those who complete certain challenges. Once an outfit is unlocked and equipped, it will alter Ratonhnhaké:ton's appearance. However, unlike armor, most of these costumes do not affect any other gameplay elements. Outfits can be unlocked through a variety of methods, which are listed below.
These are Connor's regular robes, unlocked upon the completion of Sequence 5.
Captain of the Aquila
The Captain of the Aquila outfit was a captain's uniform worn by Ratonhnhaké:ton. Although similar in appearance to the default outfit worn when on board the Aquila, it was more formal in appearance and had several notable differences. It could be unlocked for use in free-roam by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition of Assassin's Creed III or by pre-ordering the game at Amazon.[1][2]
Colonial Assassin
The Colonial Assassin outfit was previously owned by the AssassinJohn de la Tour. It could be unlocked for use in free-roam by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition of Assassin's Creed III,[1] by pre-ordering the game at Target,[2] or through pre-ordering it at Play.com.[3]

Trivia
If the robes were dyed a different color than default, it would not show during cutscenes. Instead, it would show the default color. Other outfits would show during cutscenes however.
Unlike the bow, the quiver containing the arrows doesn't show on Ezio's outfit. Also, there is no bracer on the right arm, yet the Hidden Blade retracts from the sleeve.
The original concept of the Colonial Assassin outfit was quite similar to Connor's default attire, with a cloak and the outfit's primary color displaying some of the notable differences.
Also, the original concept of the Captain of the Aquila outfit had Connor with the tricorn hat above his hood.
Achilles' Original Outfit was originally owned by John de la Tour, who then passed it down to Achilles.
