= | *July 3: Robert delivered his first report called “Childhood through Imprisonment". Aidan commended him about his thorough work and detailed report as well as other side notes made to highlight the customs of the time period, but also warned about forming a too personal attachment to Arno's life and emotions, reminding him that he was Robert Fraser and not the other way around. As he was venturing deeper into the memories it was becoming difficult for him to keep the two personalities separated, Aidan trying to remedy the problem supplied Robert with information on the Assassin Order tainted by Abstergo Entertainment, hoping to prevent him to empathize with them, hopefully decreasing his attachment to Arno.
=== | *July 4-10: As the days of investigation progressed, Fraser finished compiling his second report “Imprisonment through apprenticeship” analyzing even more in depth the feelings and ideals of Arno. Aidan finally informed him that he had the Bleeding effect and that he arranged a meeting with Dr. Victoria Bibeau, to make sure that he was in optimal condidtion between sessions, as the memories he was relieving were full of interesting information on the Assassins and their customs and they needed his full potential to separate Arno's mind from his, so he could continue his investigation. The same afternoon of the meeting with Bibeau, she wrote a report and sent it to Aidan, in which she informed on Fraser's condition, detailing how albeit having passed the bleeding effect with negative results and not showing the classic symptoms, he was clearly having a hard time keeping distances with his project, believing himself to be Arno at some points, as he also thought he underwent Arno's initiation into the brotherhood causing havoc in Fraser's mind highlighting that ever since Robert experienced that specific memory something triggered in him. After Aidan received the psychological evaluation report, he informed Mélanie on the matter, which instructed Aidan to keep an eye on Robert as he was their most valuable asset at the moment that was capable of exploiting information on the era.
==== | *July 11: After his medical evaluations, Robert took the necessary precautions to keep up his work without getting consumed by the Bleeding Effect and continued his research, finally, handing in the first part of his third report called “Arno: Enemies and Allies” which detailed Arno's pursuit of De La Serre's murderers and the reunion with Élise. Aidan responded once again with positive feedback and congratulated him about his thorough and highly detailed work, but stressing nonetheless, that Robert could speak to Bibeau whenever he wanted to or when he felt overwhelmed. He also mentioned that the fact of Robert being able to sort out what might and might not trigger him, was already a sign of good progress in terms of rehabilitation. Aidan insisted on the task he had at hand, as it was important information he was getting out of Arno's memories, also advising him that he must remember that he was relieving memories of people who were long dead and that he must stay focused, as what he was experiencing through the Animus would be essential to the creation of the unbeatable gameplay Abstergo Entertainment wanted to include in their upcoming historical videogames, stating that it was also good to have Élise back in the crosshairs as Arno and Élise reunited under a partnership in that segment of Arno's memories, mentioning how Abstergo liked to include strong female characters in their games, even more if they were real.
*July 12: Robert kept on following Victoria's instructions on his designated medical treatment hopefully overcoming his seizures. Over the days, while being at home, Robert wrote some kind of memoir on a note as Victoria told him that it would help him separate his inner self from Arno's, but while he was writing down his feelings about his current situation, he went out of control and what looked like Arno's personality took over expressing feelings of anger towards the order of the Assassins as he couldn't understand why his mentor was killed by one of their own, after that, he started writing in perfect french about how much he loved Élise, and how they should escape the Assassins and Templars alike as their lives weren't their own.
*July 14: During Bastille Day, Robert sent an email to Victoria telling her that the flashbacks had struck him again and that it was the worst ones by far. He described how the festivities triggered smells of strawberries and tastes of pastries and also how he could feel every scratched knee, tree climbed and every moment spent with Élise. He also mentioned that Élise was a recurring subject in his dreams, ultimately leading him to break up with his real life girlfriend, Anne. He couldn't take it anymore, he was totally besotted with Élise. He asked himself whether he should continue on the case, asking Victoria to take him off the program, unless he wanted him to become Arno entirely, highlighting that from time to time he didn't even know if he was either Robert or Arno himself. He finished his mail by mentioning to Bibeau that if Sages could reincarnate in people why Arno couldn't, showing a clear state of dementia. After receiving Robert's email, Victoria worried even more about his case, advising him to take medication she had in stock that might help overcome the flashbacks until they could figure another way to deal with his dementia. Also, Victoria confessed to him that ever since the acknowledgement of the existence of Sages she didn't know what to think nor believe about the reincarnations, only knowing for sure that Arno's memories were the main cause of his hallucinations and nothing else according to her medical evalutations.
*July 18: Robert was somewhat stabilized and resumed his work, right when he was contacted by Mélanie to inform him that the Licensing Division from Abstergo Industries was interested in creating action figures and that the Arno assignment was a source of interest to them. Mélanie wanted to know about Robert's insights on how they could deal with the designs tasking him to draw some sketches.
*July 19-28: Victoria wasn't quite sure if Robert was ready to resume his work and instructed Abstergo to allow him a medical leave of absence. Robert spent a week and a half on recovery under the supervision of Victoria in order to prevent any other seizure until he was ready to be reinstated once again. During his recovery, Robert had the time to cope with his inner self and the personality of Arno, realizing that what Abstergo was doing with the memories of people was inhumane, and that he wasn't fully on board with it, alongside Victoria Bibeau they decided to have him reinstated back on the program in order to infiltrate Aidan's office, leak all the documents and files on his research to the Assassins and destroy them all afterwards to slow down Abstergo's progress.
*July 29: Robert was declared healed of his dementia produced by the bleeding effect and reassigned to the Arno Dorian case, following his return, he wrote a general mail to the Abstergo Staff stating that he was grateful of the genuine concern received by the medical team, as well as his supervisor, Aidan St. Claire, over his mental state during the course of his investigation on Arno's memories and claiming that he was now clean and able to work at his best for the sake of Abstergo Entertainment development on their new game, inspired by Arno's life.
*July 30: | |||
**Aidan greeted Robert back into the staff by sending him an email in which he noted how great it was to see that the week in recovery recommended by Victoria did its part on solving the problem with the Bleeding effect. Once Robert Fraser returned to his workstation, he put his plan of destroying the documents in motion. However, Robert was caught while doing so and subsequently terminated by the Templars. On Victoria's side, she pleaded misguided ignorance and thanks to her numerous friends in Abstergo who vouched for her, successfully convinced the Templars that she did what she did because she truly believed it was the right thing to do at the time. She was subsequently offered to join their cause and became a member of the Templar Order.
**Upon Fraser's termination, Mélanie ordered Aidan to recover what was left from the files to give to Templar initiate Percy Westcreek, an employee from the Abstergo Archival Department for him to review and to help finish Arno's genetic memories where Robert left off. Afterwards, Aidan was also terminated as the Templars thought it was unacceptable that an incident like Frasier's act of sabotage could happen under his watch. Percy was curiously enough one of the few individuals that possessed the Eagle Vision, so Mélanie would sometimes pass him some artifacts to analyze them such as the Chalice of Initiation of the French Brotherhood of Assassins and the recovered watch from Arno himself. Eventually, Percy finally encountered the Sage and Grand Templar Master François-Thomas Germain on the 21rst of January 1793 at King Louis XVI's execution, which granted him a promotion amidst the Templar ranks as well as the title of Journeyman which allowed him full access to a document containing classified information such as the ISU research and technology and Abstergo's Project Phoenix. Once Percy had finished reading the full document, he was made aware of Abstergo's true intentions upon finding the remains of the sage: to recover them before the Assassins.
*July 31-August: Thanks to Percy's swift and methodic work on the Arno Dorian Case as well as the advantage of his Eagle Vision which helped accomplish his work, Mélanie provided Percy with a trip on an Abstergo Entertainment private jet to investigate the French Assassins' hideout underneath the Sainte-Chapelle, hoping that Percy's Eagle Vision would help him discover some secrets others might have missed. Sometime later, Percy was assigned to investigate Fraser's apartment in which using his Eagle Vision he discovered a set of fingerprints that belonged to an individual known as “Bishop” which was tied to the Assassins, meaning that they were on the same tracks as Asbtergo and that possibly they already had the information they needed. Nevertheless, all the work done by Percy was enough to be noticed by Alan Rikkin himself and after an unanimous vote he was inducted officially into the Templar order, and was assigned as replacement of Aidan St. Claire's post as Helix Project Coordinator, explaining that he had to be terminated due to his incompetence that caused the massive leak of information on the Dorian Case.
*August 6: Mélanie Lemay called Álvaro Gramática to inform him of some periodic attempts by outside sources to access their storage servers, where they kept the helix memories for further analysis that had struck Abstergo Montreal's facility, and that in light of recent events, it was crucial that they had proper countermeasures to protect their data on their research as their only option as of then, was to shut down the servers in order to isolate the hackers and flush them out of their network. However, Álvaro advised not to worry about these grouped attacks as they were mere decoys for them not to focus in the right intruders. Álvaro sent out Violet D'acosta to help her secure their servers installing a new proprietary system that was able to detect and flush out rogue divers from the systems and protect them from any other attacks. However, albeit being reassured, Mélanie did not quite understand the endgoal behind the attacks. Álvaro then proceeded to explain that, in fact, the attackers were infiltrating Helix to sequence genetic memories just as they were doing for their own research, so it was imperative that violence should be used if necessary to maintain national security. Mélanie, committed to the cause as she was, agreed.
*August 21: Violet Da Costa informed Mélanie Lemay that their new security team installed at Abstergo Montreal to monitor the recent cyber attacks, discovered a huge amount of unauthorized data packs entering and leaving the Helix Servers. Violet outlined how they were just going to enter Beta version for Helix the previous week from that moment, but that this was an indicator of something troubling: That anyone could infiltrate the servers or communicate through them without prior authorization. Obviously, this was a problem, so, after some digging, they figured out how the attackers managed to get in and how they'd use to communicate between each other. Violet's team pulled some information out of those packs and discovered a conversation of two entities that talked about Humanity and control over the world, leaving everyone in the room troubled.
*October 5: On behalf of what was happening around the world, Shaun Hastings and Rebbeca Crane were always working to come up with new ways of helping the brotherhood. In order to better understand the origins of their enemy, The Templars, Shaun volunteered to delve into his genetic memories to explore various patrilineal and matrilineal lines into the past focusing on the 9th, 10th and 11th century in search of Assassins and/ or Templars in his bloodline. The research lasted for seven sessions over three weeks starting on the 5th of October.
*October 13: Gavin Banks alongside Galina Voronina finally made their move on the Abstergo Laboratory in Paris where the Templars had John Standish's body and the original Shroud of Eden they were using to boost the progress on the Phoenix Project, leading a team of assassins to the facility to destroy them both. Sigma Team was dispatched to counter the Assassins, resulting in a harsh pursuit across the country all the way to La Rochelle where the Altaïr II was waiting for them, Sigma Team was ambushed and quickly outnumbered. Sorkin, a survivor from 2012's Florence raid was stabbed seven times by Galina Voronina before the Assassins could make their escape, leaving Sigma Team no option but to retreat.
*October: During the attack led by Gavin and his assassins, Álvaro was critically injured by the blast of a grenade tossed by Shaun Hastings. However, the Shroud of Eden managed to heal him for one last time, Consus, the precursor entity that lived in the tissue of the shroud, revived him. Álvaro spoke with it before it faded away, thanking him and telling him goodbye. The original Shroud of Eden had lost its power and was now a simple piece of fancy looking cloth.
*October 20: Shaun and Rebecca discovered that one of Shaun's ancestors named Alrek Thorvaldson had in his possession a wooden plank that had a carving of Thor's Hammer on it, which was without a doubt an ISU relic. Alrek was at some point captured and sold as a slave escaping his captivity 10 years later and settling down in Jutland losing the whereabouts of such plank in the process. Shaun grew somewhat irritated about the failure of their research but kept on a good spirit, proposing that they could explore the memories of his grandfather to “Give a Nazi a proper bollocking”.
*October 27: Mélanie Lemay called Álvaro Gramática to inform him that the previous group that hacked into Helix two months ago attacked again. Álvaro proceeded to ask what the intruders had stolen, but apparently nothing was taken out of their servers, all the files had just been scanned as a result of a massive data sweep. Mélanie was concerned that Erudito was responsible for this but Álvaro denied it as everything that had been scanned in the first attack would have already been spread in the media or publicly posted online, so he discarded them. She then suggested John Standish's group, the Instruments of the first will, but Álvaro also denied the eventuality as they were still low in numbers at that time, and too fractured to coordinate such attacks. Mélanie, stressed out, asked who could have breached their servers, he confessed that he had his suspicions but did not know yet, but that in the meantime, she should get someone to fast track the memories of Arno Dorian to check if they had missed something as he was worried that the Assassins knew something they didn't. Mélanie agreed, reassuring Álvaro that she would get someone on the matter immediately.
*October 28-30: Following the escape of Gavin and his Assassins after the destruction of Abstergo's Lab in Paris, Laetitia England requested a meeting with Juhani Otso Berg for a debriefing. She wanted to know how a top secret lab such as the one in Paris was discovered and subsequently destroyed by just a few Assassins. Berg expressed his frustration and outlined that she should have listened to him at the time she decided to disband his team to send him on a fool's errand around the globe in search of relics and that if they hadn't let the Assassins regroup for a year none of that would have happened, stating also that the group of Assassins which raided the lab weren't simple assassin brawlers. It was none other than Gavin Banks, a long time enemy among Templar ranks well known for his strategy and information network around the world, thus, it was a mistake to have underestimated him. Laetitia admitted her wrongs and authorized the reassignment of Sigma Team but that the research for Sages was still a priority. Berg asked for Violet Da Costa to be reinstated back with him, but she wasn't available as she was in Montréal trying to figure out how to stop the hackers interested in the Helix servers and Juno. Berg requested to be transferred alongside her so he could ensure her security if any other strike had to occur. Laetitia granted him his request and Berg left for Montréal to ensure the Building's protection and to protect Mélanie Lemay's leads on potential Sages.
*Early November: | |||
**William Miles took over the leadership of the Assassins once again, he designated a woman nicknamed The Enabler, a.k.a “Bishop” among the Initiates, to be the official handler of the Initiates and their worldwide network. After Shaun's callout for help, the Initiates allied with them and started working together as a whole. Bishop was put in charge of helping them synchronize genetic memories from Abstergo Industries cloud server, monitor the Assassins by assigning them wherever the Brotherhood needed them to be sent out, and acting against the Templars if necessary. Bishop spotted among her scannings a new Helix user that was working in Abstergo, that had just completed a set of memories involving a Sage and Grand Master Templar from the 14th century Jacques de Molay, drawing her attention to this individual, thus contacting him instantly, hacking his interface. Bishop explained to the Helix user that he was being manipulated by Abstergo to sift through memories for their own benefit, following which she asked him to experience an unsequenced set of Arno Dorian's memories as an introduction to the Assassins and Templars to show him irrefutable proof that Abstergo was indeed a cover up for their true intentions on the world. Once the Initiate had completed the first sequence, Bishop offered him a chance to join the Assassins.
**After the Initiate accepted her offer, Bishop sent him a video file of Abstergo's Phoenix Project, explaining that the Templars were searching for Sages both in the present and the past so they could sequence a full Precursor genome. The Initiate was then tasked with exploring Arno's memories. In this way, the Assassins hoped to find out where the remains of the Sage François Germain had ended up and recover them before the Templars could, as it was reported by Abstergo that Arno crossed paths with said sage at some point in his life. After completing certain sets of memory sequences, Abstergo began performing a server sweep as they were on high alert due to the recent attacks by hackers in order to flush out any possible intruder or rogue element, forcing the Initiate's avatar to flee through Helix rifts to avoid being detected, transporting him into other historical periods in Paris. Eventually, the Initiate discovered that Arno buried the remains of François-Thomas Germain in the Parisian catacombs leaving Bishop satisfied with the results of the Initiate's investigation as the fact that Germain's body was within the catacombs all these years meant that the bones would be too degraded for Abstergo to collect genetic memory data from them. After awarding the Initiate for his thorough work, Bishop told him that she would stay in touch with him for further assignments, but until then, she urged him to continue searching Arno's memories for any information that could aid the Assassins.
**Sometime later, the Initiate had managed to access an additional sequence of memories that weren't part of the pack Bishop had passed him. When accessing them, he triggered a glitch in the system that locked them out of Helix alerting Bishop. However, she was able to stabilize the connection, allowing the Initiate to continue his work and eventually discovered that in the Early 1880's Arno discovered an Apple of Eden underneath the Saint-Denis Basilica and sent it out to Egypt where it would be guarded by the Brotherhood.
**Shortly after the arrival of Juhani Otso Berg at Abstergo Entertainment joining Violet Da Costa at her assigned workstation, a Helix research analyst nicknamed “Numbskull” triggered a virus while exploring the genetic memories of colonial Templar Shay Patrick Cormac. The virus ejected all of the Employees from their animi and had to be escorted by Violet through an evacuation procedure overseen by Mélanie Lemay. Once the building was cleared, Violet insisted on destroying the memories as they were the source of the malware, but Berg proposed to study them instead, recruiting the analyst responsible for the release of the virus in the building's computer systems to fix them. Violet wanted the analyst to help her reboot the Helix software from the bunker so they could access Shay Cormac's memories, but the access elevator to the underground levels were also shut down as the virus had spread through the totality of the building's systems.
**Over the next five days, Violet oversaw the analyst reviewing of the memory sequences that were available, as well as simultaneously performing maintenance on the rest of the systems throughout the facility in order to flush the virus out.
**The analyst was able to explore Cormac's genetic memories during several sessions, however, the animus kicked him out from time to time due to the rogue files damaged by the virus, when this would happen, the Analyst would go on repairing colleagues' computers and tablets left in the offices by the panick that ensued as the evacuation took place, thus, restoring the majority of the devices overtime. After a week, Violet and the Analyst were able to completely restore the Helix servers. After completing their task, Mélanie Lemay, Berg and Violet Da Costa invited the analyst into the CCO's office where they congratulated him for his thorough work on the Shay Cormac case. At that moment, Berg told the analyst that his research served them well as they could send a powerful message to the Assassins by uploading Shay's memories to their network, stating that when pressed, what an Assassin truly wants isn't freedom, but order. It was then revealed to the analyst that Mélanie, Violet and Berg were all members of the Templar Order. From there, the analyst was given a choice to join the Templars, or refuse and be killed by Berg to ensure that no one outside the Templar Order knew of their continued existence.
**Following the upload of Cormac's video file in the Assassin network under Berg's command, reports of assassins emptying a few safehouses, shutting down servers and installing new firewalls started to emerge, resulting in the evacuation of the infiltrated Initiates within Abstergo Entertainment, which, Berg had already spotted, and had been monitoring his communications with other Initiates as well as their desperate way to cover their tracks and escape, eliminating them before they could exfiltrate and regroup. After the threats at Abstergo Entertainment were finally neutralized, Violet and Berg were on stand-by for new orders and the possible reinstatement of Sorkin in their team, as the duo had the knowledge that he survived to his injuries but was still in rehabilitation.
*November 2: Melanie Lemay lamented to Álvaro Gramática the analyst's departure, as it would have been skilled enough to explore Arno Dorian's genetic memories. Since the analyst's departure, Abstergo had trouble finding researchers who were able to handle the memories of individuals with a high count of First Civilization DNA.
*November 5: Eric Cooper texted Emmett Leary to inform him that he had set up a headquarters in Paris, and were waiting on him to connect to the servers of a local Helix hub.
*December 1: Álvaro Gramática, still in shock due to the massive loss of data caused by the destruction of the lab in Paris, the complete degradation of John Standish's body as well as the original Shroud of eden, tried to organize a new initiative that would accelerate the gathering of data by merging industry and Entertainment, therefore, Helix, in the lives of everyone. From wristbands to healthcare clinics that would allow them to take samples of every individual that interacts with them, Álvaro was convinced that this was the only way to hopefully research and acquire descendants with a high ISU DNA concentration.
=== 2015 === | |||
In the | * Early January: Following Álvaro Gramática's plan to merge Helix and the everyday life of the people, Abstergo Industries in collaboration with MysoreTech launched the Animus VR in the US at an affordable price and in many different versions, in order to target a wider range of consumers. In this way, the already important number of Abstergo products in the average american house would double within the year accompanied by the various healthcare products such as Herne+ and bodybands that would be sold in new clinics installed around the world to provide them.
* September 25: Isabelle Ardant visited Álvaro Gramática at his facility in Australia, main base of operations for the Phoenix Project, to inform him of new findings related to a possible second shroud of eden that would be located somewhere in London. She proceeded to explain that their findings a couple of years ago about the Kooh-i-noor made them unearth the genetic line of Arbaaz Mir who was an active Assassins during the 1840's. Álvaro was confused as to what that information had to do with the obtention of a new shroud, to which Isabelle brought up a file in which the genetic line exposed that Arbaaz's son, Jayadeep Mir, was active in London in the 1860's and was assigned to help the Assassin twins Jacob and Evie Frye look after another Shroud and secure it before the Templar Crawford Starrick could, Grand Master of the british rite, at the time. Álvaro was overjoyed by her findings and immediately demanded Juhani Otso Berg and his team to be assigned on the obtention of the artifact.
* October 4: Isabelle Ardant's calendar had her birthday marked on it for celebration.
* October 10: One of the new clinics installed in New York City as part of the initiative led by Álvaro Gramática, received the visit from a woman and her 10 year old child, which turned out to be the illegitimate son of Desmond Miles, Elijah. Isabelle Ardant immediately reported to Gramática as she was in desperate need to prove herself to Abstergo, wanting to get the breakthrough of her career. Isabelle informed Álvaro that when the mother walked her son in the clinic, the boy's DNA not only revealed that he was Desmond's child but that he also was a Sage. Álvaro expressed his excitement to Isabelle stating that he wanted to cut the boy to pieces as he had done before with subject 17 in order to expand his research, but Isabelle opposed herself to this claiming that it was her project and allowing such treatment would be inhumane. Instead, she proposed it would be better to place him in an Animus for the next 50 years to come, highlighting the massive amount of Data they could extract from his genetic memories. Álvaro was somewhat irritated at the idea of not having him on his table of operations, but Isabelle's insights suggested that it would be better to let the child grow and have him monitored until the time to capture him was due.
* October 15: Isabelle Ardant arranged a meeting with Mitsuko Nakamura, director of research of Abstergo Industries' Lineage Discovery and Acquisition, to inform her about her project of monitoring Elijah to subsequently use him in the future, putting him inside an animus to exploit his genetic data, as his heritage was one of the most unique high isu-concentrated DNA Abstergo ever recorded. Proposing to wait until he was mature enough for his body to resist the effects of the animus and study his DNA for the next 50 years to come.
* October 17: Alan Rikkin, grand master of the templar order and CEO of Abstergo Industries at the time, summoned Isabelle at a conference as he had heard of her new initiative. Isabelle, hungry for renown as she was, saw this as her ultimate opportunity to stand out once and for good, presenting her project and obtaining her long desired approval from Alan Rikkin and the board, charging Isabelle to handle the research and acquisition of the new Shroud of Eden and monitoring of the descendant of Subject 17.
* October: Having observed a sudden rise of Templar presence in London, Bishop decided to investigate calling in Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane to help her.
* October 24: | |||
** Bishop dispatched Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane to Isabelle's office in London to gather information on pieces of Eden in order to identify what Abstergo was looking for. The duo arrived at the office and hacked Isabelle's personal computer revealing meetings, plannings for new projects and ancestry lines with the names of all the existing assassins in the UK. While Rebecca was scanning her files, she noticed that Isabelle was having a meeting later that evening in her office. Rebecca saw this as an opportunity to assassinate Isabelle and decided alongside Shaun to go off-books and take their chances. They rigged the place with explosives to secure an escape route in case they needed to flee and waited to ambush her.
** Several hours later, Isabelle arrived and called Álvaro Gramática to inform him that Sigma Team was called in to search for the Shroud of Eden and that she would inform him whenever they obtained results. Right when she ended the call, Shaun and Rebecca emerged from their hiding spots and confronted Isabelle. However, Sigma team operatives Juhani Otso Berg and Violet Da Costa intercepted the two assassins before they could make their move. Isabelle ordered Berg to apprehend them but Rebecca activated the explosives causing an explosion shattering the office's main window allowing them to jump, performing a leap of faith, thus, escaping the complex.
** After escaping Isabelle's Office, Shaun and Rebecca headed to a secret hideout where they would rest and recover, once there, Bishop contacted them, informing Rebecca that the data she had downloaded hours earlier contained the genetic lines of two individuals named Jacob and Evie Frye, two Assassin twins that operated in Victorian London in the 1860's and at some point got in contact with another Shroud of Eden that had been hidden in London ever since they recovered it. Shaun stated that they would need backup to overcome Sigma Team as they were alone. Bishop reassured them that she would send help and that an Initiate was already synchronizing with the memories by the time they managed to download them, so they only had to focus on securing the Shroud once it was located by the Initiate. However, after she had checked on the hideout, she contacted the Initiate to instruct him that he needed to double up his work as the attempt at assassinating Isabelle compromised the Assassin anonymity in London, therefore, Bishop wanted to be one step ahead of Abstergo at all times.
* October 25-26: Overnight, Bishop checked upon the duo to see if everything was alright and noticed Shaun was still awake, surprised, she asked him what was wrong. Shaun confessed that he was still grieving over the loss of Desmond and felt bad for the hostile persona Shaun always displayed everytime Desmond was around him because of jealousy. However, his confession was abruptly stopped when Galina Voronina made her entry behind Shaun's back, scaring him. After a few formalities, Galina instructed Shaun to rest as they had a tough task ahead of them.
* October 27-31: | |||
**The following days after Galina's arrival, the Initiate finally managed to discover the location of the Shroud through the memories he was tasked to explore. The artifact was hidden inside a vault under Buckingham Palace. Bishop dispatched the team to retrieve the artifact before the Templars, but Isabelle was already on site with Sigma operatives. Rebecca, baffled by the setback the presence of Templars represented, wanted to abort the mission. However, Shaun proposed that it was the perfect time to get rid of Sigma and retrieve the artifact at the same time. Galina agreed and tossed a smoke grenade into the vault as Sigma Team and Isabelle were about to leave with the Shroud, causing a distraction. Galina engaged in hand to hand combat with Juhani Otso Berg, while Shaun used his shock blade to assassinate Isabelle taking advantage of the fight's havoc. Berg ordered Violet Da Costa to take away the Shroud and secure it, though, before leaving with the shroud she waved her gun at Shaun in an attempt to kill him, but Rebecca stood across the trajectory of the bullet in order to save him, thus, taking the shot instead. Galina managed to knock out Berg and was about to finish him but was forced to retreat as a Templar strike team arrived and opened fire over her. Shaun ordered Galina to find an exit while holding Rebbecca who was badly injured. Galina used another smoke grenade to eliminate the strike team, offering the opportunity to escape from the vault.
**Shortly after escaping from the vault under Buckingham Palace, Violet delivered the Shroud of Eden to Álvaro Gramática at his top secret lab where he worked on Project Phoenix. There, she learned about Álvaro's true intentions with the newly acquired piece of eden: Recreate from scratch a fully functional precursor body. Álvaro explained that it would be possible as the shroud heals and reconstructs tissue on a cellular level, so, folding it over precursor tissue or DNA would slowly but effectively end up regenerating a precursor being. Violet handed over the Shroud to Gramática, and as she saw him go away to report to Alan Rikkin about the obtention of the Shroud, Violet summoned Juno through a computer to inform her that she had delivered the Shroud as she asked, but that she was scared for her. Juno greeted Violet stating that she served her well and that she was ought to save all of humanity, reassuring her that there was no reason whatsoever to fear anything.
**After the successful recovery of the Shroud of Eden at the Buckingham incident, Laetitia England ordered Juhani Otso Berg to deliver Shay Patrick Cormac's Precursor Box to Álvaro Gramática in an attempt to boost the Phoenix's Project progress and protect it from further raids or incursions the Assassins might organize to steal it.
*November 1: Isabelle Ardant had a planned vacation with her family to the Dominican Republic, however she was Assassinated by Shaun Hastings in the Buckingham Palace vault days prior.
*December: | |||
**Two months after the Incident at Buckingham Palace, the Assassins were focusing on finding the location of Álvaro Gramatica's laboratory which Bishop managed to hack in one of his camera feeds, but wasn't able to pinpoint where it was however, designating the finding of the laboratory a top priority for the Brotherhood. She used the Hephaestus network to send a message worldwide to all available cells in which she stated the instructions to follow: -Discover the lab location. -Kill Dr. Gramática. -Recover the second Shroud of Eden and any other artifacts found in the lab. -Destroy all Abstergo cloning technology that may result in a successful attempt at bringing a full on ISU back to life. With the message sent, she urged all personnel, Initiate or Assassin, to report back with any possible lead on Gramática's whereabouts.
**Arend Schut and Harlan T. Cunningham were having a honeymoon touring in western Europe when they were interrupted by Bishop's orders to track down Álvaro Gramática. They both immediately started to look after their target, but the lab was nowhere to be found, leading them to think that it wasn't in Europe. They went to England next, but quickly figured that it was impossible to maneuver there as with the recent death of Isabelle Ardant, Historical Research was scrambling to replace her and the whole country crawled with Sigma and Delta team's operatives looking for Assassins. Arend believed however, that the reason for so much presence in London was due to a massive regrouping in order to heal the ranks rather than hiding something, so they also crossed the UK off their list of possible secret lab hideouts.Next stop was Paris, though they soon realized the city was clean, there was no Abstergo presence at all after Gavin, Shaun and Galina raided the lab back in october 2014, noting that “Even Abstergo is not dumb enough to put a new one in the same city”, however, they had noticed that Abstergo had a certain interest in the Saclay Business Cluster but, as they were in a hurry they had no time to investigate any further on that matter, so they were about to leave East to Italy hoping to find something there, highlighting how he was excited to go to Florence but that Harlan still had bad memories of what happened years ago. Arend also sent out a message to the Ninidze Brothers in Georgia to see what was the situation over there but they never responded. Their radio silence had them worried leaving them with no other alternative but to hope for the best assuming that the chaos left over by war is what kept them silent.
**Bishop received news from Jasdip Dhami whom had been running interference among the Templars in Bangalore, India, as well as performing recon with hopes of discovering the Lab, but nothing came through. He just managed to find some still operational Abstergo subsidiaries around the city, but nothing too important besides a high concentration of soldiers making sure the Assassins could not pillage any kind of technology nor genetic memory sets from them again. He also stated his concerns about the Initiates involvement in the hunt for Álvaro and their overall conflict against Templars, thanking them for their data mining and contribution to rebuild the Hephaestus network, but that after all, they were mere civilians and as untrained civilians, it meant a liability instead of an asset, thus being in danger if in the Templar's crosshairs. This was the last update he made before he ought to go south, heading to Australia in order to investigate further in his research of Álvaro's lab.
**According to Kiyoshi Takakura the Japanese brotherhood was stronger than ever after Gavin's help in securing Tokyo two years prior. Osoroshii Baba took the initiative of sending Assassins in the Koreas and China to help search Álvaro's Lab as Japan was clear of any important Abstergo presence. Because of that, Kiyoshi decided to go alongside his brothers to China as he was also looking forward to eating all kinds of food he had been craving to try. Kiyoshi stated that he was going to investigate the Shandong province as there were a lot of Abstergo's holdings in Hi-tech developing zones scattered through the region. After investigating the Shandong province and invigorating himself with local food, he headed to Dalian, were Abstergo exported lots of its products and technologies from, hoping that if he followed the shipment trails as Gavin did in order to find the top secret lab in Paris he would eventually stumble upon Álvaro's laboratory. However, it was a dead end, as no shipment manifests nor indications of suspect payloads destined to undisclosed locations were found by Kiyoshi and his team, leading him to the last location he'd hoped to find some sort of clue to Álvaro's Lab whereabouts, Xi'an's Hi-Tech development zone, which is able to acquire thousands of Abstergo-funded university graduates in the area as it was almost entirely owned by Abstergo Industries, Kiyoshi thought that if there was one place in China a secret complex could be hidden in, that would be the place.
**Eric Cooper sent out his status report to Bishop. The situation wasn't really good among the Initiates. Eric was worried for their safety ever since Juhani Otso Berg uploaded Shay's video to the Assassin network, as they were forced to relocate secret hideouts and rework the majority of firewalls within the Hephaestus system to avoid any other intrusion by Abstergo. The analyst Bishop had contacted the year prior to analyze the Arno Dorian casefile at Abstergo Montreal was dead, Berg had discovered his actions and used the same feed Bishop used to communicate with him to monitor the Initiates and see where they would escape in order to send strike teams to take them out. Furthermore, the vast majority of the Initiates that made their network possible were being shut down progressively. Influential supporters such as military contacts were being discharged or transferred. Wealthy private citizens audited or bought by Abstergo and their subsidiaries and the high placed contacts among politicians had to face budget cuts and challenges to their authorities to the point of discreditation. Eric insisted that they were being targeted. Imploring for help and some course of action to avoid the death of innocent people or worse by the hands of the Templars.
**All the available operating cells were on the move and looking for Álvaro Gramática around the globe, Bishop had received all of the reports and passed them through William Miles, and after much deliberation, he decided to enact the Garden Rooftop Protocol. As of that moment, all unnecessary communications on the Hephaestus network had to cease until further notice. Above all, the primary target remained that of finding Álvaro and his Lab. Bishop's notice instructed not to engage if either of the targets were found, but instead report to her immediately to organize a strike team. Outside of the immediate order to find Álvaro, Bishop authorized the cells to choose their targets as long as they followed the Creed, also stating that she would be in touch when necessary. She also thanked the Initiates for their help and contributions as they ended up being a great service for the Brotherhood, though she urged them to stay low for their own safety, thus, she was not going to contact them for the foreseeable future until otherwise was required.
**The Assassins took interest in a young woman named Charlotte de la Cruz, a recurrent Helix user and worker at the Malta Banking Corporation.
**Gavin Banks tasked three assassins: Xavier Chen, Galina Voronina and Kody Adams to look after Charlotte in California and secure her as she was the descendant of Thomas Stoddard, a 17th century Assassin that crossed paths with the first civilization entity Consus at some point in 1692 during the Salem Wtich Trials and was essential in discovering the truth about Joseph Laurier, an Assassin defector who was suspected to have been undergoing a partnership with Abstergo.
**The Assassin Kody Adams contacted Charlotte online via the Abstergo VR headset to test her sympathy towards the brotherhood resulting in positive feedback, as she judged the Assassins to have the same philosophy as Robin Hood and the Templars being a “bunch of old white men”. Kody tried to arrange a meeting with her but she declined as she thought he was flirting with her and went offline, stating that she wasn't interested and that she had an interview to attend the next morning.
**The next day, Charlotte attended the interview for a new job she previously applied to at the World Share San Diego, where she ought to present her theory in hopes for her admission. Charlotte stressed that the bank shouldn't lend money to countries with corrupt regimes but to fund democratic nations that ranked well with human rights instead. When the interviewer heard Charlotte's approach on the matter, she reproached her theory, citing that their system was created by people far more experienced than her, therefore, her proposal was not valid to them. Indignant, Charlotte expressed her frustration stating that they wouldn't accept her proposal because she wasn't born from a rich family and stormed out of the room assuming that the interviewer was reserving the post for her daughter, as she did not stop staring at her portrait on her desk throughout the whole interview while Charlotte was talking.
**Later that day, Charlotte received the visit of an elderly woman at her workplace who couldn't afford to pay the bills of her daughter's treatment, at that point, Charlotte decided to do something about it as she couldn't take the unfair balance of life into account anymore. She reassured the old lady that her daughter was going to be fine, hushing her to go help her immediately as she had illegally diverted 10.000 dollars on her account in order to pay for the treatment. When her shift had ended and on her way home, she pondered about what she did for that woman and felt self accomplished, but later, fear started to settle in as she realized that she would most likely be fired for what she did, comparing herself to Robin Hood. However, her thinking was interrupted abruptly when she opened her apartment's door greeted by the sight of two strangers standing in the middle of her living room.
**Baffled at the sight of two unknown individuals in front of her, Charlotte demanded explanations and asked them who they were. The man introduced himself as Xavier Chen and the woman Galina Voronina. Xavier proceeded to explain that they belonged to an organization called “The Brotherhood”. Immediately upon hearing that, Charlotte stated “I'm in!”, rejoicing and frantically jumping out of excitement. Galina and Xavier were staring at each other in confusion, to which Xavier cautiously asked if Charlotte knew about the Assassins. Charlotte, with a smile on her face and a bottle of wine in her hands replied that the “Brotherhood” was famous among the conspiracy theorists on the web and forums, where she had been gathering information for quite some time then, highlighting how they were supposed to be missing one finger whereas Xavier and Galina did not.
**Sometime later after making the acquaintance of the Assassins, someone outside Charlotte's apartment knocked at her door demanding a conversation with her. Xavier and Galina became nervous and positioned themselves ready to attack. Charlotte, thinking to herself that the bank might have already discovered the transfer she illegally did earlier that day, went to open the door. To her surprise, a middle aged looking man claiming to be a member of the Help Without Frontiers wanted to apologize on behalf of the company for the inconvenience earlier that day during her interview. Charlotte was somewhat hesitant to the claims of the man but just as she was about to unlock the door a group of four individuals stormed in her apartment breaking the door, tossing Charlotte to the ground.
**A fight quickly ensued as Xavier and Galina began eliminating them. During the fight, Charlotte was assaulted by one of the men trying to kill her, but Galina took him down with a throwing knife, splattering Charlotte's face with blood, entering in a state of shock. After assessing the threat, Galina ran for the balcony from which she jumped down a roof of a building across the street, ordering Charlotte to do the same. Though, Charlotte was still in shock and afraid of jumping from such an altitude, to which Galina reminded her that she "wanted in" the brotherhood. At that moment, Charlotte glanced back in her apartment and saw Xavier was still fighting with the last member of the attackers, then he made eye contact with her and urged her to follow Galina. Charlotte took a deep breath, started running across the room and jumped ultimately falling unconscious mid-air before she could make it to the neighbouring roof. The Assassins carried Charlotte to their hideout in the Salton Sea.
**The next day, Charlotte abruptly woke up on a bed in a room she couldn't recognize, surrounded by shattered glass in what seemed to be an abandoned building of some sort. Scared, she glanced around the room, but was quickly greeted by a familiar voice, that of Galina Voronina and Xavier Chen. Charlotte asked them what had happened the night before when they were pursued by the Templars. Galina replied in a joyful tone that she almost made the “jump” and explained that she had been transported by them to a secret hideout located in the lake of Salton Sea, where they hid from Abstergo in the desert.
**Xavier introduced Charlotte to Kody Adams, their tech expert who had previously been in contact with her through the Helix headset voice chat, stating that he was the one who found Charlotte's location on time. After some formalities and introductions, Xavier proceeded to explain to Charlotte about the real reason the agents went for her to her apartment, and why they got to her first in order to save her. The Templars were using Helix to gather random data for their research and acquisition of subjects against their will. After a few seconds, processing everything she'd heard, Charlotte stated that she somehow already knew that there was something suspicious about Abstergo's product line, as she also scoured through some conspiracy threads involving the company and the Templars online quite a few times before. Observing that Charlotte was more open-minded than expected, Xavier decided to get straight to the point and told her the mission at hand, the Brotherhood needed her in order to explore the genetic memories of her ancestor, but for that, she had to get used to a machine called “The Animus”.
**Charlotte was introduced to the Animus by Xavier, explaining that the machine was capable of relieving her own ancestry line instead of someone else's unlike Helix. When Charlotte asked him about how her ancestor would come into play to help the brotherhood, he stated that one of her ancestors came in contact with a powerful artifact they described as a “Piece Of Eden” the Templars wanted to recover by abducting her and exploring her DNA, because a member of the Brotherhood, Joseph Laurier, who was thought dead, resurfaced, betraying the Assassins by going to a Templar HQ promising them to reveal the location of the artifact in question, pointing out Charlotte as a potential subject for Abstergo along the line. However, in a transmission Kody managed to decipher 12 hours earlier, there was a hidden message left by Joseph, apparently, he was being a mole within Abstergo to set a trap in order to lure an important agent in San Diego and assassinate him. But nothing was certain, hence, the reason why Xavier wanted Charlotte to use the animus to explore the matter by themselves. Xavier then asked Charlotte if she wanted to hop in the animus to run some tests to see if she was able to resist the simulation, she did not hesitated to rush over the machine, initiating synchronization and relieving the genetic memories of Tom Stoddard an Assassin that operated during the 1690's Witch Salem trials in quest of an artifact.
**Once inside the Animus, her first memory in the simulation was that of his ancestor on a mission in the American village of Salem in 1692, where he was witnessing the public execution of a woman accused of witchcraft. Charlotte couldn't control herself before the sight of a helpless woman on the verge of being executed and lounged her ancestor's avatar at the pyre, causing a total desynchronization, and ejecting her out of the animus.
**When out of the Animus, she quickly became sick and disoriented, Kody addressed her health while Xavier was already asking how quickly could she recover in order to get back to work, provoking an argument between him and Galina, debating the course of action Xavier was taking was not the appropriate one and it was putting at risk someone with little to no training with the animus, to what Xavier responded aggressively with threats stating that Gavin Banks was the one to have placed him in charge, therefore, she had to follow his orders or leave the cell. Charlotte had listened enough, she pulled her wits together and decided to hop back in the animus on her own volition. Surprised, Xavier thanked Charlotte telling her she made the right choice. Once again, perfectly synchronized, she went back into the sinulation.
**Charlotte relieved once again the genetic memories of her ancestor which was looking for an artifact in 1692 Salem, Thomas attended a secret meeting in a tavern where he ought to reunite with another Assassin named Jennifer Querry, Joseph Laurier's ancestor. Charlotte eventually learned that the infamous witchcraft trials were a plot by the Templars to identify women that were “possessed” as they believed a Piece of Eden was behind it all.
**Some hours later, Charlotte relieved the exact moment where Thomas, after threatening a young girl named Dorothy Osborne to death in order to get information about the Piece of Eden's whereabouts, sighted first handedly the “Possession” that struck her which was in fact the conscience of the ISU Consus taking over her mind and communicating through her. The overall violence against a child enraged Charlotte, pushing her to try to do something about it, provoking a seizure outside the animus as she was getting near total desynchronization.
**The convulsions alerted Xavier, asking Kody what was happening, to which he responded that her vitals were spiking, but besides that, she was fighting to keep synchronized to her ancestor. This impressed Xavier, highlighting to Galina the great amount of courage Charlotte was demonstrating to them. Galina however was still worried and became angry, stating that Thomas Stoddard was one of the most ruthless Assassins the order has ever had in their ranks and that compared to Charlotte, she had nothing of him inside her, not convinced about her potential as an Assassin. Still, Xavier insisted on giving her the benefit of the doubt, referencing Joseph as an example.
**Galina couldn't accept the fact that Xavier couldn't acknowledge Joseph's treason, but once again, Xavier insisted on his innocence, therefore, begging her to give him a chance to prove himself and seek out if the “Mole” story was indeed real. After a brief moment of tense silence, Galina finally let go of the conversation by treating Xavier as an idealist.
**Suddenly, Charlotte started to have seizures again, Galina asked about her status to Kody to which he replied that she was stable but that they'd have to get her out soon, otherwise, she would have serious permanent secondary effects. Galina turned back and faced Xavier once again, asking him how long he planned on keeping Charlotte in the animus, stating that she wouldn't resist in there for much longer. Xavier grew irritated of Galina and instructed her to be optimistic and to trust Charlotte as well as Joseph, stating that they at least owed him a chance of proving the reason behind his supposed false treason, but Galina was still not over with her anger and denied having to own anything to Joseph, asking why would Xavier in return. Meanwhile, in the Animus Charlotte witnessed yet another “possession” of Dorothy Osborne, this time experiencing a direct conversation with the ISU Consus, speaking to Charlotte through her ancestor, telling her to find “Those who know everything” referencing Erudito as they had the capability to help her.
**While Charlotte was communicating with Consus in the Animus, Xavier and Galina were interrupted by the sound of Kody storming in the room frantically calling them out. He had just intercepted another message from the Templars detailing the identity of the supposed “Important Agent” Joseph wanted to lure in. According to the message Kody managed to decipher, the individual was a man named Didier Hawking. Xavier had no idea who it was, so he asked Kody for more details. He explained that he was the man responsible for the acceleration of memory research, somehow he managed to cut the search time twenty-fold the time necessary to research through genetic data while it normally took less proficient users months or even years to find useful information. Upon hearing that, Galina saw herself forced to action on behalf of Xavier's authority. She ordered Kody to pull Charlotte out of the Animus, Xavier opposed himself on Galina's path to the Animus treating her as a lunatic, insisting that they were steps to take In order to desynchronize someone, besides the fact that if Charlotte had found something, she would have already pulled out by herself, telling everybody. However, Galina had no time to mess around and she couldn't take it anymore, she pushed Xavier out of her way and took the needle out of her forearm, abruptly ejecting Charlotte of the simulation.
**Upon witnessing Charlotte's violent desynchronization, Xavier lounged himself over Galina grabbing her in anger, yelling that he was the one who made the decisions, therefore, it was his mission. Galina countered his grasp and threw him in the air, telling him that “his” mission had failed, and that if what Kody said about the Templar agent was true, then they had to double time their moves, and go straight to Joseph in order to kill him, so Abstergo could not get anything out of him. Xavier pulled out his gun, with a threatening gaze, ordering Kody to reinsert Charlotte back in the Animus. Galina ordered the opposite. Kody was starting to get anxious after seeing how Xavier was waving his pistol around, so he warned Galina that they should comply. Though Galina disregarded the warning, stating that he was not going to use it, suggesting that Xavier was weak.
**During the whole scene, Charlotte had the time to stabilize and recover from the shock, telling Kody that her mission wasn't over, that Consus told her about “finding someone that knows everything”. Upon hearing the name Consus, Galina turned around with a surprised look on her face. Xavier tried once again to reason with Galina, insisting that Charlotte was gifted, therefore, capable of finding what they were looking for. However, Galina had a stubborn mind, and was focused on the only problem that mattered for her; Finding Joseph and eliminating him. She urged the team to wrap everything up for dust off, though Xavier wanted Kody to put Charlotte back in the Animus. The same argument that spanned across several hours between Galina and Xavier was about to start again when Kody decided to interrupt them and scream out loud getting their attention so they stopped wasting time.
**The Assassins evacuated the hideout, purging the building on their way out in case Abstergo was to find their location, preventing them from following their tracks. On the way to the truck, Charlotte was still struggling to compose herself as of the brutal desynchronization caused by the ejection. However, she urged Kody to put her back as she needed to find out more about Consus and Joseph's ancestor, Jennifer. Which, in the memory she was relieving just before she was pulled out, Charlotte witnessed how the Templars managed to shoot her, while attempting to save a young boy named David, whom escaped with them from the prison they rescued Dorothy Osborne. Afterwards, her ancestor Thomas, subsequently fled the scene with Dorothy leaving Jennifer for dead, leading Charlotte to think that it was a dead end, and that indeed Joseph was actually telling the truth in his hidden message deciphered by Kody, planning to set an actual trap. Although, she knew deep down that something wasn't adding up, and that along Consus' cryptic warning was enough incentive for her wanting back into the Animus. Kody accepted to her pleas and took her to the truck. Xavier was overseeing the situation, making sure everybody evacuated, while Galina initiated the purging system to sterilize the building. Once the room was lit on fire, she turned back to face Xavier, telling him that Charlotte had all the way to San Diego in order to figure everything out, then she would personally kill Joseph, warning him not to stand in her way, stating that “His gun wouldn't save him”.

Revision as of 03:59, 5 November 2021
- July 3: Robert delivered his first report called “Childhood through Imprisonment". Aidan commended him about his thorough work and detailed report as well as other side notes made to highlight the customs of the time period, but also warned about forming a too personal attachment to Arno's life and emotions, reminding him that he was Robert Fraser and not the other way around. As he was venturing deeper into the memories it was becoming difficult for him to keep the two personalities separated, Aidan trying to remedy the problem supplied Robert with information on the Assassin Order tainted by Abstergo Entertainment, hoping to prevent him to empathize with them, hopefully decreasing his attachment to Arno.[1]
- July 4-10: As the days of investigation progressed, Fraser finished compiling his second report “Imprisonment through apprenticeship” analyzing even more in depth the feelings and ideals of Arno. After Aidan received the psychological evaluation report, he informed Mélanie on the matter, which instructed Aidan to keep an eye on Robert as he was their most valuable asset at the moment that was capable of exploiting information on the era.[1]
- July 11: After his medical evaluations, Robert took the necessary precautions to keep up his work without getting consumed by the Bleeding Effect and continued his research, finally, handing in the first part of his third report called “Arno: Enemies and Allies” which detailed Arno's pursuit of De La Serre's murderers and the reunion with Élise. Aidan insisted on the task he had at hand, as it was important information he was getting out of Arno's memories, also advising him that he must remember that he was relieving memories of people who were long dead and that he must stay focused, as what he was experiencing through the Animus would be essential to the creation of the unbeatable gameplay Abstergo Entertainment wanted to include in their upcoming historical videogames, stating that it was also good to have Élise back in the crosshairs as Arno and Élise reunited under a partnership in that segment of Arno's memories, mentioning how Abstergo liked to include strong female characters in their games, even more if they were real.[1]
- July 12: Robert kept on following Victoria's instructions on his designated medical treatment hopefully overcoming his seizures. Over the days, while being at home, Robert wrote some kind of memoir on a note as Victoria told him that it would help him separate his inner self from Arno's, but while he was writing down his feelings about his current situation, he went out of control and what looked like Arno's personality took over expressing feelings of anger towards the order of the Assassins as he couldn't understand why his mentor was killed by one of their own, after that, he started writing in perfect french about how much he loved Élise, and how they should escape the Assassins and Templars alike as their lives weren't their own.[1]
- July 14: During Bastille Day, Robert sent an email to Victoria telling her that the flashbacks had struck him again and that it was the worst ones by far. Also, Victoria confessed to him that ever since the acknowledgement of the existence of Sages she didn't know what to think nor believe about the reincarnations, only knowing for sure that Arno's memories were the main cause of his hallucinations and nothing else according to her medical evalutations.[1]
- July 18: Robert was somewhat stabilized and resumed his work, right when he was contacted by Mélanie to inform him that the Licensing Division from Abstergo Industries was interested in creating action figures and that the Arno assignment was a source of interest to them. Mélanie wanted to know about Robert's insights on how they could deal with the designs tasking him to draw some sketches.[1]
- July 19-28: Victoria wasn't quite sure if Robert was ready to resume his work and instructed Abstergo to allow him a medical leave of absence. Robert spent a week and a half on recovery under the supervision of Victoria in order to prevent any other seizure until he was ready to be reinstated once again. During his recovery, Robert had the time to cope with his inner self and the personality of Arno, realizing that what Abstergo was doing with the memories of people was inhumane, and that he wasn't fully on board with it, alongside Victoria Bibeau they decided to have him reinstated back on the program in order to infiltrate Aidan's office, leak all the documents and files on his research to the Assassins and destroy them all afterwards to slow down Abstergo's progress.[1]
- July 29: Robert was declared healed of his dementia produced by the bleeding effect and reassigned to the Arno Dorian case, following his return, he wrote a general mail to the Abstergo Staff stating that he was grateful of the genuine concern received by the medical team, as well as his supervisor, Aidan St. Claire, over his mental state during the course of his investigation on Arno's memories and claiming that he was now clean and able to work at his best for the sake of Abstergo Entertainment development on their new game, inspired by Arno's life.[1]
- July 30:
- Aidan greeted Robert back into the staff by sending him an email in which he noted how great it was to see that the week in recovery recommended by Victoria did its part on solving the problem with the Bleeding effect. She was subsequently offered to join their cause and became a member of the Templar Order.[1]
- Upon Fraser's termination, Mélanie ordered Aidan to recover what was left from the files to give to Templar initiate Percy Westcreek, an employee from the Abstergo Archival Department for him to review and to help finish Arno's genetic memories where Robert left off. Once Percy had finished reading the full document, he was made aware of Abstergo's true intentions upon finding the remains of the sage: to recover them before the Assassins.[1]
- July 31-August: Thanks to Percy's swift and methodic work on the Arno Dorian Case as well as the advantage of his Eagle Vision which helped accomplish his work, Mélanie provided Percy with a trip on an Abstergo Entertainment private jet to investigate the French Assassins' hideout underneath the Sainte-Chapelle, hoping that Percy's Eagle Vision would help him discover some secrets others might have missed. Claire's post as Helix Project Coordinator, explaining that he had to be terminated due to his incompetence that caused the massive leak of information on the Dorian Case.[1]
- August 6: Mélanie Lemay called Álvaro Gramática to inform him of some periodic attempts by outside sources to access their storage servers, where they kept the helix memories for further analysis that had struck Abstergo Montreal's facility, and that in light of recent events, it was crucial that they had proper countermeasures to protect their data on their research as their only option as of then, was to shut down the servers in order to isolate the hackers and flush them out of their network. Mélanie, committed to the cause as she was, agreed.[2]
- August 21: Violet Da Costa informed Mélanie Lemay that their new security team installed at Abstergo Montreal to monitor the recent cyber attacks, discovered a huge amount of unauthorized data packs entering and leaving the Helix Servers. Violet's team pulled some information out of those packs and discovered a conversation of two entities that talked about Humanity and control over the world, leaving everyone in the room troubled.[2]
- October 5: On behalf of what was happening around the world, Shaun Hastings and Rebbeca Crane were always working to come up with new ways of helping the brotherhood. In order to better understand the origins of their enemy, The Templars, Shaun volunteered to delve into his genetic memories to explore various patrilineal and matrilineal lines into the past focusing on the 9th, 10th and 11th century in search of Assassins and/ or Templars in his bloodline. The research lasted for seven sessions over three weeks starting on the 5th of October.[3]
- October 13: Gavin Banks alongside Galina Voronina finally made their move on the Abstergo Laboratory in Paris where the Templars had John Standish's body and the original Shroud of Eden they were using to boost the progress on the Phoenix Project, leading a team of assassins to the facility to destroy them both. Sigma Team was dispatched to counter the Assassins, resulting in a harsh pursuit across the country all the way to La Rochelle where the Altaïr II was waiting for them, Sigma Team was ambushed and quickly outnumbered. Sorkin, a survivor from 2012's Florence raid was stabbed seven times by Galina Voronina before the Assassins could make their escape, leaving Sigma Team no option but to retreat.[4]
- October: During the attack led by Gavin and his assassins, Álvaro was critically injured by the blast of a grenade tossed by Shaun Hastings. However, the Shroud of Eden managed to heal him for one last time, Consus, the precursor entity that lived in the tissue of the shroud, revived him. Álvaro spoke with it before it faded away, thanking him and telling him goodbye. The original Shroud of Eden had lost its power and was now a simple piece of fancy looking cloth.[5]
- October 20: Shaun and Rebecca discovered that one of Shaun's ancestors named Alrek Thorvaldson had in his possession a wooden plank that had a carving of Thor's Hammer on it, which was without a doubt an ISU relic. Alrek was at some point captured and sold as a slave escaping his captivity 10 years later and settling down in Jutland losing the whereabouts of such plank in the process. Shaun grew somewhat irritated about the failure of their research but kept on a good spirit, proposing that they could explore the memories of his grandfather to “Give a Nazi a proper bollocking”.[3]
- October 27: Mélanie Lemay called Álvaro Gramática to inform him that the previous group that hacked into Helix two months ago attacked again. Mélanie agreed, reassuring Álvaro that she would get someone on the matter immediately.[2]
- October 28-30: Following the escape of Gavin and his Assassins after the destruction of Abstergo's Lab in Paris, Laetitia England requested a meeting with Juhani Otso Berg for a debriefing. Laetitia granted him his request and Berg left for Montréal to ensure the Building's protection and to protect Mélanie Lemay's leads on potential Sages.[4]
- Early November:
- William Miles took over the leadership of the Assassins once again, he designated a woman nicknamed The Enabler, a.k.a “Bishop” among the Initiates, to be the official handler of the Initiates and their worldwide network.
- After the Initiate accepted her offer, Bishop sent him a video file of Abstergo's Phoenix Project, explaining that the Templars were searching for Sages both in the present and the past so they could sequence a full Precursor genome. [2]
- Sometime later, the Initiate had managed to access an additional sequence of memories that weren't part of the pack Bishop had passed him. When accessing them, he triggered a glitch in the system that locked them out of Helix alerting Bishop. However, she was able to stabilize the connection, allowing the Initiate to continue his work and eventually discovered that in the Early 1880's Arno discovered an Apple of Eden underneath the Saint-Denis Basilica and sent it out to Egypt where it would be guarded by the Brotherhood.[2]
- Shortly after the arrival of Juhani Otso Berg at Abstergo Entertainment joining Violet Da Costa at her assigned workstation, a Helix research analyst nicknamed “Numbskull” triggered a virus while exploring the genetic memories of colonial Templar Shay Patrick Cormac. Violet wanted the analyst to help her reboot the Helix software from the bunker so they could access Shay Cormac's memories, but the access elevator to the underground levels were also shut down as the virus had spread through the totality of the building's systems.[4]
- Over the next five days, Violet oversaw the analyst reviewing of the memory sequences that were available, as well as simultaneously performing maintenance on the rest of the systems throughout the facility in order to flush the virus out.[4]
- The analyst was able to explore Cormac's genetic memories during several sessions, however, the animus kicked him out from time to time due to the rogue files damaged by the virus, when this would happen, the Analyst would go on repairing colleagues' computers and tablets left in the offices by the panick that ensued as the evacuation took place, thus, restoring the majority of the devices overtime. From there, the analyst was given a choice to join the Templars, or refuse and be killed by Berg to ensure that no one outside the Templar Order knew of their continued existence.[4]
- Following the upload of Cormac's video file in the Assassin network under Berg's command, reports of assassins emptying a few safehouses, shutting down servers and installing new firewalls started to emerge, resulting in the evacuation of the infiltrated Initiates within Abstergo Entertainment, which, Berg had already spotted, and had been monitoring his communications with other Initiates as well as their desperate way to cover their tracks and escape, eliminating them before they could exfiltrate and regroup. After the threats at Abstergo Entertainment were finally neutralized, Violet and Berg were on stand-by for new orders and the possible reinstatement of Sorkin in their team, as the duo had the knowledge that he survived to his injuries but was still in rehabilitation.[4]
- November 2: Melanie Lemay lamented to Álvaro Gramática the analyst's departure, as it would have been skilled enough to explore Arno Dorian's genetic memories. Since the analyst's departure, Abstergo had trouble finding researchers who were able to handle the memories of individuals with a high count of First Civilization DNA.[2]
- November 5: Eric Cooper texted Emmett Leary to inform him that he had set up a headquarters in Paris, and were waiting on him to connect to the servers of a local Helix hub.[6]
- December 1: Álvaro Gramática, still in shock due to the massive loss of data caused by the destruction of the lab in Paris, the complete degradation of John Standish's body as well as the original Shroud of eden, tried to organize a new initiative that would accelerate the gathering of data by merging industry and Entertainment, therefore, Helix, in the lives of everyone. From wristbands to healthcare clinics that would allow them to take samples of every individual that interacts with them, Álvaro was convinced that this was the only way to hopefully research and acquire descendants with a high ISU DNA concentration.[5]
2015
- Early January: Following Álvaro Gramática's plan to merge Helix and the everyday life of the people, Abstergo Industries in collaboration with MysoreTech launched the Animus VR in the US at an affordable price and in many different versions, in order to target a wider range of consumers. In this way, the already important number of Abstergo products in the average american house would double within the year accompanied by the various healthcare products such as Herne+ and bodybands that would be sold in new clinics installed around the world to provide them.[5][7]
- September 25: Isabelle Ardant visited Álvaro Gramática at his facility in Australia, main base of operations for the Phoenix Project, to inform him of new findings related to a possible second shroud of eden that would be located somewhere in London. Álvaro was overjoyed by her findings and immediately demanded Juhani Otso Berg and his team to be assigned on the obtention of the artifact.[5]
- October 4: Isabelle Ardant's calendar had her birthday marked on it for celebration.[5]
- October 10: One of the new clinics installed in New York City as part of the initiative led by Álvaro Gramática, received the visit from a woman and her 10 year old child, which turned out to be the illegitimate son of Desmond Miles, Elijah. Álvaro was somewhat irritated at the idea of not having him on his table of operations, but Isabelle's insights suggested that it would be better to let the child grow and have him monitored until the time to capture him was due.[5]
- October 15: Isabelle Ardant arranged a meeting with Mitsuko Nakamura, director of research of Abstergo Industries' Lineage Discovery and Acquisition, to inform her about her project of monitoring Elijah to subsequently use him in the future, putting him inside an animus to exploit his genetic data, as his heritage was one of the most unique high isu-concentrated DNA Abstergo ever recorded. Proposing to wait until he was mature enough for his body to resist the effects of the animus and study his DNA for the next 50 years to come.[5]
- October 17: Alan Rikkin, grand master of the templar order and CEO of Abstergo Industries at the time, summoned Isabelle at a conference as he had heard of her new initiative. Isabelle, hungry for renown as she was, saw this as her ultimate opportunity to stand out once and for good, presenting her project and obtaining her long desired approval from Alan Rikkin and the board, charging Isabelle to handle the research and acquisition of the new Shroud of Eden and monitoring of the descendant of Subject 17.[5]
- October: Having observed a sudden rise of Templar presence in London, Bishop decided to investigate calling in Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane to help her.[5]
- October 24:
- Bishop dispatched Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane to Isabelle's office in London to gather information on pieces of Eden in order to identify what Abstergo was looking for. They rigged the place with explosives to secure an escape route in case they needed to flee and waited to ambush her.[5]
- Several hours later, Isabelle arrived and called Álvaro Gramática to inform him that Sigma Team was called in to search for the Shroud of Eden and that she would inform him whenever they obtained results. [5]
- After escaping Isabelle's Office, Shaun and Rebecca headed to a secret hideout where they would rest and recover, once there, Bishop contacted them, informing Rebecca that the data she had downloaded hours earlier contained the genetic lines of two individuals named Jacob and Evie Frye, two Assassin twins that operated in Victorian London in the 1860's and at some point got in contact with another Shroud of Eden that had been hidden in London ever since they recovered it. Shaun stated that they would need backup to overcome Sigma Team as they were alone. Bishop reassured them that she would send help and that an Initiate was already synchronizing with the memories by the time they managed to download them, so they only had to focus on securing the Shroud once it was located by the Initiate. However, after she had checked on the hideout, she contacted the Initiate to instruct him that he needed to double up his work as the attempt at assassinating Isabelle compromised the Assassin anonymity in London, therefore, Bishop wanted to be one step ahead of Abstergo at all times.[5]
- October 25-26: Overnight, Bishop checked upon the duo to see if everything was alright and noticed Shaun was still awake, surprised, she asked him what was wrong. After a few formalities, Galina instructed Shaun to rest as they had a tough task ahead of them.[5]
- October 27-31:
- The following days after Galina's arrival, the Initiate finally managed to discover the location of the Shroud through the memories he was tasked to explore. Galina used another smoke grenade to eliminate the strike team, offering the opportunity to escape from the vault.[5]
- Shortly after escaping from the vault under Buckingham Palace, Violet delivered the Shroud of Eden to Álvaro Gramática at his top secret lab where he worked on Project Phoenix. Juno greeted Violet stating that she served her well and that she was ought to save all of humanity, reassuring her that there was no reason whatsoever to fear anything.[5]
- After the successful recovery of the Shroud of Eden at the Buckingham incident, Laetitia England ordered Juhani Otso Berg to deliver Shay Patrick Cormac's Precursor Box to Álvaro Gramática in an attempt to boost the Phoenix's Project progress and protect it from further raids or incursions the Assassins might organize to steal it.[8]
- November 1: Isabelle Ardant had a planned vacation with her family to the Dominican Republic, however she was Assassinated by Shaun Hastings in the Buckingham Palace vault days prior.[5]
- December:
- Two months after the Incident at Buckingham Palace, the Assassins were focusing on finding the location of Álvaro Gramatica's laboratory which Bishop managed to hack in one of his camera feeds, but wasn't able to pinpoint where it was however, designating the finding of the laboratory a top priority for the Brotherhood. With the message sent, she urged all personnel, Initiate or Assassin, to report back with any possible lead on Gramática's whereabouts.[9]
- Arend Schut and Harlan T. Their radio silence had them worried leaving them with no other alternative but to hope for the best assuming that the chaos left over by war is what kept them silent.[9]
- Bishop received news from Jasdip Dhami whom had been running interference among the Templars in Bangalore, India, as well as performing recon with hopes of discovering the Lab, but nothing came through. This was the last update he made before he ought to go south, heading to Australia in order to investigate further in his research of Álvaro's lab.[9]
- According to Kiyoshi Takakura the Japanese brotherhood was stronger than ever after Gavin's help in securing Tokyo two years prior. However, it was a dead end, as no shipment manifests nor indications of suspect payloads destined to undisclosed locations were found by Kiyoshi and his team, leading him to the last location he'd hoped to find some sort of clue to Álvaro's Lab whereabouts, Xi'an's Hi-Tech development zone, which is able to acquire thousands of Abstergo-funded university graduates in the area as it was almost entirely owned by Abstergo Industries, Kiyoshi thought that if there was one place in China a secret complex could be hidden in, that would be the place.[9]
- Eric Cooper sent out his status report to Bishop. Imploring for help and some course of action to avoid the death of innocent people or worse by the hands of the Templars.[9]
- All the available operating cells were on the move and looking for Álvaro Gramática around the globe, Bishop had received all of the reports and passed them through William Miles, and after much deliberation, he decided to enact the Garden Rooftop Protocol. She also thanked the Initiates for their help and contributions as they ended up being a great service for the Brotherhood, though she urged them to stay low for their own safety, thus, she was not going to contact them for the foreseeable future until otherwise was required.[9]
- The Assassins took interest in a young woman named Charlotte de la Cruz, a recurrent Helix user and worker at the Malta Banking Corporation.[10]
- Gavin Banks tasked three assassins: Xavier Chen, Galina Voronina and Kody Adams to look after Charlotte in California and secure her as she was the descendant of Thomas Stoddard, a 17th century Assassin that crossed paths with the first civilization entity Consus at some point in 1692 during the Salem Wtich Trials and was essential in discovering the truth about Joseph Laurier, an Assassin defector who was suspected to have been undergoing a partnership with Abstergo.[10]
- The Assassin Kody Adams contacted Charlotte online via the Abstergo VR headset to test her sympathy towards the brotherhood resulting in positive feedback, as she judged the Assassins to have the same philosophy as Robin Hood and the Templars being a “bunch of old white men”. Kody tried to arrange a meeting with her but she declined as she thought he was flirting with her and went offline, stating that she wasn't interested and that she had an interview to attend the next morning.[10]
- The next day, Charlotte attended the interview for a new job she previously applied to at the World Share San Diego, where she ought to present her theory in hopes for her admission. Indignant, Charlotte expressed her frustration stating that they wouldn't accept her proposal because she wasn't born from a rich family and stormed out of the room assuming that the interviewer was reserving the post for her daughter, as she did not stop staring at her portrait on her desk throughout the whole interview while Charlotte was talking.[10]
- Later that day, Charlotte received the visit of an elderly woman at her workplace who couldn't afford to pay the bills of her daughter's treatment, at that point, Charlotte decided to do something about it as she couldn't take the unfair balance of life into account anymore. However, her thinking was interrupted abruptly when she opened her apartment's door greeted by the sight of two strangers standing in the middle of her living room.[10]
- Baffled at the sight of two unknown individuals in front of her, Charlotte demanded explanations and asked them who they were. [10]
- Sometime later after making the acquaintance of the Assassins, someone outside Charlotte's apartment knocked at her door demanding a conversation with her. Charlotte was somewhat hesitant to the claims of the man but just as she was about to unlock the door a group of four individuals stormed in her apartment breaking the door, tossing Charlotte to the ground.[10]
- A fight quickly ensued as Xavier and Galina began eliminating them. The Assassins carried Charlotte to their hideout in the Salton Sea.[10]
- The next day, Charlotte abruptly woke up on a bed in a room she couldn't recognize, surrounded by shattered glass in what seemed to be an abandoned building of some sort. [10]
- Xavier introduced Charlotte to Kody Adams, their tech expert who had previously been in contact with her through the Helix headset voice chat, stating that he was the one who found Charlotte's location on time. Observing that Charlotte was more open-minded than expected, Xavier decided to get straight to the point and told her the mission at hand, the Brotherhood needed her in order to explore the genetic memories of her ancestor, but for that, she had to get used to a machine called “The Animus”.[10]
- Charlotte was introduced to the Animus by Xavier, explaining that the machine was capable of relieving her own ancestry line instead of someone else's unlike Helix. Xavier then asked Charlotte if she wanted to hop in the animus to run some tests to see if she was able to resist the simulation, she did not hesitated to rush over the machine, initiating synchronization and relieving the genetic memories of Tom Stoddard an Assassin that operated during the 1690's Witch Salem trials in quest of an artifact.[10]
- Once inside the Animus, her first memory in the simulation was that of his ancestor on a mission in the American village of Salem in 1692, where he was witnessing the public execution of a woman accused of witchcraft. Charlotte couldn't control herself before the sight of a helpless woman on the verge of being executed and lounged her ancestor's avatar at the pyre, causing a total desynchronization, and ejecting her out of the animus.[10]
- When out of the Animus, she quickly became sick and disoriented, Kody addressed her health while Xavier was already asking how quickly could she recover in order to get back to work, provoking an argument between him and Galina, debating the course of action Xavier was taking was not the appropriate one and it was putting at risk someone with little to no training with the animus, to what Xavier responded aggressively with threats stating that Gavin Banks was the one to have placed him in charge, therefore, she had to follow his orders or leave the cell. Charlotte had listened enough, she pulled her wits together and decided to hop back in the animus on her own volition. Surprised, Xavier thanked Charlotte telling her she made the right choice. Once again, perfectly synchronized, she went back into the sinulation.[10]
- Charlotte relieved once again the genetic memories of her ancestor which was looking for an artifact in 1692 Salem, Thomas attended a secret meeting in a tavern where he ought to reunite with another Assassin named Jennifer Querry, Joseph Laurier's ancestor. Charlotte eventually learned that the infamous witchcraft trials were a plot by the Templars to identify women that were “possessed” as they believed a Piece of Eden was behind it all.
- Some hours later, Charlotte relieved the exact moment where Thomas, after threatening a young girl named Dorothy Osborne to death in order to get information about the Piece of Eden's whereabouts, sighted first handedly the “Possession” that struck her which was in fact the conscience of the ISU Consus taking over her mind and communicating through her. The overall violence against a child enraged Charlotte, pushing her to try to do something about it, provoking a seizure outside the animus as she was getting near total desynchronization.[10]
- The convulsions alerted Xavier, asking Kody what was happening, to which he responded that her vitals were spiking, but besides that, she was fighting to keep synchronized to her ancestor. Still, Xavier insisted on giving her the benefit of the doubt, referencing Joseph as an example.[10]
- Galina couldn't accept the fact that Xavier couldn't acknowledge Joseph's treason, but once again, Xavier insisted on his innocence, therefore, begging her to give him a chance to prove himself and seek out if the “Mole” story was indeed real. After a brief moment of tense silence, Galina finally let go of the conversation by treating Xavier as an idealist. [10]
- Suddenly, Charlotte started to have seizures again, Galina asked about her status to Kody to which he replied that she was stable but that they'd have to get her out soon, otherwise, she would have serious permanent secondary effects. Meanwhile, in the Animus Charlotte witnessed yet another “possession” of Dorothy Osborne, this time experiencing a direct conversation with the ISU Consus, speaking to Charlotte through her ancestor, telling her to find “Those who know everything” referencing Erudito as they had the capability to help her.[10]
- While Charlotte was communicating with Consus in the Animus, Xavier and Galina were interrupted by the sound of Kody storming in the room frantically calling them out. However, Galina had no time to mess around and she couldn't take it anymore, she pushed Xavier out of her way and took the needle out of her forearm, abruptly ejecting Charlotte of the simulation.[10]
- Upon witnessing Charlotte's violent desynchronization, Xavier lounged himself over Galina grabbing her in anger, yelling that he was the one who made the decisions, therefore, it was his mission.
- During the whole scene, Charlotte had the time to stabilize and recover from the shock, telling Kody that her mission wasn't over, that Consus told her about “finding someone that knows everything”. The same argument that spanned across several hours between Galina and Xavier was about to start again when Kody decided to interrupt them and scream out loud getting their attention so they stopped wasting time.[10]
- The Assassins evacuated the hideout, purging the building on their way out in case Abstergo was to find their location, preventing them from following their tracks. Once the room was lit on fire, she turned back to face Xavier, telling him that Charlotte had all the way to San Diego in order to figure everything out, then she would personally kill Joseph, warning him not to stand in her way, stating that “His gun wouldn't save him”.[10]
