The Varangians were guards in Constantinople. Similarly to the Almogavars, they were Byzantine guards. They acted much like the Seekers in Rome, as they fought with halberds and spears. They also wielded pistols that they could use when disarmed or when Ezio escaped to somewhere they could not follow.
