During the 9th Century, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir encountered turkeys roaming the wilds of Vinland when she went there in search of Gorm Kjotvesson. When approached, male turkeys defended themselves by attacking her.[1]

Eivor also encountered the turkey named Arne on her travels through Vinland and helped him return to his owner.[2] She later came across Arne and his owner in Nyhofn together with the rest of the Toothbreakers.
