Templar Loyalist
In 1491, Tomás de Torquemada served Rodrigo Borgia, whom he greatly admired. He had been provided with a list of names of people who had to be executed. Believing them to be heretics, Tomás had his men capture them and prepared them for execution. Torquemada was not aware of the fact that Rodrigo Borgia used him as a tool to kill the Spanish Assassins.
An admirer of Rodrigo Borgia, he, as Inquisitor General, had many Assassins burned alive under the Templar banner, though he wasn't a Templar himself. However, a few of these burnings were prevented by Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who had come to Spain to find out about the Inquisition's plans.

Confrontation
However, the Assassins Ezio Auditore and Raphael Sanchez were trying to prevent the executions and killed Gaspar Martinez, who was to oversee the execution of the first Assassin in Barcelona.
Eventually, Ezio confronted Tomás in his castle. Unlike Rodrigo, who was merely using the Inquisition to rout his Assassin enemies in Spain, Tomás truly believed in his goals. Ezio tried to convince Tomás of the truth about Rodrigo, but Tomás would hear none of it.

Ezio commented that there was no better place to hide than in the shadow of virtue, to which Tomás sneered at him, asking if Ezio intended to cut his throat and bathe in his blood. Ezio calmly stated that he preferred a quick, clean kill and moved in to strike him down; but Tomas blocked him off with a barred gate. With Ezio unable to reach him, Tomas laughed gloatingly and called for his guards before making his escape.
Sometime later, he visited Pedro Llorente, the Inquisition's Calficador, in Zaragoza. Here, the two men oversaw the execution of one of the Assassins. Ezio Auditore overheard their conversation and discovered that the names had been provided by Rodrigo Borgia, causing him to decide on assassinating Pedro Llorente, as soon as Torquemada had left.

Ezio called after him that he would learn the truth about Rodrigo one way or the other, but by then it would be too late.
torquemada then travelled to the besieged city of Granada, where he met with Juan de Marillo and ordered him to round up all heretics in the city. This never happened, as Ezio managed to assassinate Juan without anyone noticing.

Death
Not long after that, Ezio made his way through Torquemada's castle in an attempt to find out how much he knew of the Templar Order, and whether or not he was a Templar himself. Ezio confronted him, but Torquemada denied any knowledge of a Templar conspiracy. He then lowered a gate and managed to escape from the Assassin.

Tomás de Torquemada (1420 - 16 September 1498) was a Spanish Dominican friar, the first Inquisitor General of Spain, and confessor to Isabella I of Castile.

Biography

In 1491, Tomás de Torquemada served Rodrigo Borgia, whom he greatly admired. He had been provided with a list of names of people who had to be executed. Believing them to be heretics, Tomás had his men capture them and prepared them for execution. Torquemada was not aware of the fact that Rodrigo Borgia used him as a tool to kill the Spanish Assassins.

However, the Assassins Ezio Auditore and Raphael Sanchez were trying to prevent the executions and killed Gaspar Martinez, who was to oversee the execution of the first Assassin in Barcelona.

Sometime later, he visited Pedro Llorente, the Inquisition's Calficador, in Zaragoza. Here, the two men oversaw the execution of one of the Assassins. Ezio Auditore overheard their conversation and discovered that the names had been provided by Rodrigo Borgia, causing him to decide on assassinating Pedro Llorente, as soon as Torquemada had left.

torquemada then travelled to the besieged city of Granada, where he met with Juan de Marillo and ordered him to round up all heretics in the city. This never happened, as Ezio managed to assassinate Juan without anyone noticing.
