Sofia Sorto was a Venetian bookseller living in Constantinople during the 16th century. During her time in Constantinople, she befriended Ezio Auditore, the Grand Master of the Assassin Order and later became his wife.
Biography
Early life
Sofia was born in Venice, Italy, as a girl with a taste for knowledge and a fondness for books.[1]
Life in Constantinople
Sofia moved to Constantinople, wanting to spread knowledge amongst the poor Ottoman people. Unbeknownst to her, however, the building she inhabited was the old trading post of Niccolò Polo,[1] the father of Marco Polo and individual who played a vital role in the Assassin Order.[2]
In 1511, she met Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the Grand Master of the Assassin Order, who was on a search for the seals of the legendary Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, which Niccolò and Maffeo Polo spread throughout Constantinople. Sofia, charmed by Ezio, allowed him to look around her home when he eventually found a secret entrance. Ezio entered it, and returned with a seal and an encrypted map.
