Sandarach

Sandarach, also known as Realgar, is an arsenic sulfide mineral of orange-red coloring. It was used in medicine, as well as a pigment in both painting and fireworks at the time of Renaissance.

During the Renaissance, members of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins extracted sandarach from silver and gold and mixed it with verdigris and chalk to create blinding powder.[1]
