Phaidos (died 405 BCE) was an Athenian commander who served as an admiral during the second half of the Peloponnesian War.

In 405 BCE, Athens lost the Battle of Aegospotami and as a consequence, was beginning to suffer shortage of grain in the city. Phaidos and the Delos magistrate Straton were ordered to deliver a shipment of grain from Delos to Athens as soon as possible. In the midst of preperation, Phaidos had asked for Straton to join in the convoy to Athens, though the magistrate was reluctant to do so and attempted to come up with excuses to remain behind in Delos. Regardless, both Phaidos and Straton were assassinated by the misthios Kassandra on behalf on Sparta.[1]
