- "Enter the Animus Core as it struggles to load New York. While the center is complete, the outer reaches remain raw and ever changing. Don't let the peculiar environment distract you, assassins lurk around every shifting corner."
- ―Ubisoft description.

The Animus Core was a simulated location created by Abstergo Industries' entertainment branch, for the console stage of their Animus technology.
The area's environment was stylized as pure, but raw and ever-changing Animus software that struggled to load New York, with the exception of the center, where City Hall was located, being complete. Interestingly, the purely simulated portions of the Animus Core did not experience weather conditions.
The map had three aesthetic variations: daytime, nighttime and rain.
