This article is about the legendary King of Pylos and Messenia. For other uses, see Nestor.
Nestor was the legendary King of Pylos and Messenia in Greek mythology.
During the Trojan War, Nestor travelled with King Menelaus of Sparta to form an army, leading the expedition against Troy where he was considered the oldest and wisest hero.[1]
Later on, a ship allegedly belonging to Nestor sunk beside the island of Schiza. This shipwreck was explored by the Spartan misthios Kassandra during the Peloponnesian War.[2]
Behind the scenes
The name of Nestor (Νέστωρ), a character mentioned in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, is derived from the Greek word νέομαι (neomai) "I return" and the agent noun -τωρ (-tōr) "-er".
