Neptune, known to the Greeks as Poseidon, is the Roman god of fresh water and the seas. He is the brother of Jupiter and Pluto, and the husband of Salacia.

Influence

In the 1st century BCE Egypt the Medjay Bayek of Siwa found and wielded a spear called Neptune's Grasp.[1]

During the Renaissance the Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni had a statue featuring Neptune. It was paired with one of his brother Pluto.[2]

Among the pirates Neptune's name was often invoked. Even though Edward Kenway[3] did so at least on one occasion, Samuel Bellamy and Alonzo Batilla were quite fond of using it.[4]
