Biography
Aiding the Templars
In 1191, Masun and a fellow Assassin Jamal were converted to the Templar cause. When the Templars arrived at the gates of Masyaf the same year after perusing Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, Massun opened the gates for them, and allowed them to lay siege to the village.
Death
Soon after the attack on Masyaf, Altaïr found out about Masun's treachery through a letter that he had pickpocketed from the basket weaver. Interrogating Masun in a secluded area, Altaïr found out about his allegiance to the Templars. Bringing the traitor back to Al Mualim, Masun was given a final chance to repent. However the man remained defiant, and ultimately, the Grand Master had no choice but to execute him.
Personality and characteristics
Masun appeared to be a madman at first sight, claiming that the Templars goal was noble and that everyone should serve them. Masun was also quite persuasive, able to advocate that Al Mualim was a bane on the village of Masyaf through his preaching skills. The man also proved very defiant, believing in what he thought was right until his death.
Trivia
- Masun is the only person who Altaïr did not kill after an interrogation. All other people that Altaïr interrogated were killed with the hidden blade.
- Masun appears like some of the civilians in Jerusalem or Damascus.
- The word Maṣūn (مصون) means "well-protected" or "safeguarded" in Arabic.
