Lucius

Lucius (d. 259) was a member of the Roman sect of the Hidden Ones and the Liberalis Circulum, a subgroup of the brotherhood which operated from the city of Lugdunum. He was the father of Aquilus and an ancestor of Desmond Miles.

Biography

Early life

Lucius was born into a family that had been members of the Hidden Ones for generations. Following suit, Lucius became a member of the Hidden Ones as well. Eventually, Lucius had a son, Aquilus, whom he trained to follow in his footsteps and to fight for their cause.

Finding the Ankh and death

In 259, a Piece of Eden known as the Ankh was found in Germania by Lucius' nephew, the Alemanni Hidden One Accipiter. Lucius subsequently tasked Aquilus with assassinating two Generals and a Senator, and then to retrieve the artifact in Accipiter's possession. Upon his son's return to Lugdunum, Lucius was given the artifact for safekeeping. At the same day of Aquilus' arrival, Lucius was visited by his old friend Caïus Fulvus Vultur, a senator of the Roman Empire.

After offering Vultur a room in his villa to spend the night in, Lucius proceeded to explain the artifact's powers to his son. He informed Aquilus that it likely was the local bishop Faustinus who informed general Gracchus of the attempt on his life, resulting in Aquilus' failure to kill the general. As Aquilus left the villa to interrogate Faustin, Lucius was met by Vultur, and the two men entered into an argument. Unaware of Vultur's ties to the Templar Order, Lucius was killed by the senator, who proceeded to take the Ankh and mortally wound Lucius' servant Weke during his escape.
