Le Protée was one of twelve legendary ships encountered by the pirate Alonzo Batilla during the early 18th century.
A French slave ship, she brought African slaves from Senegal and the Kindom of Whydah to the West Indies and was protected by L'Alexandre. The slave ship was eventually sunk in Los Mártires with the Man O' War.
