Kalim was a Hidden One of Nubian descent who operated in Alexandria, Egypt in the 9th century.[1] In 870, he was sent to Antioch along with other three Hidden Ones to answer the request for help sent by Basim Ibn Ishaq.[2]

Biography

In 870, Kalim was a part of the group sent to Antioch, led by Jessamyn and joined by the siblings Rashid and Sihem. Rashid led the group to the city's bureau, where they met with Basim and Hytham. Shortly after, they met with the Frankish Hidden Ones Oisel and Matthias from Chinon and took the pair to meet with Basim,[3] who instructed the two groups to travel along the Silk Road towards Chang'an to stop the Snake-Eaters, an Order of the Ancients branch.[4]

After three months on the road, their caravan arrived at an Order stronghold. Kalim and the other Alexandrians engaged the soldiers in red while Oisel and Matthias went after Dunya, their leader.[5] When the pair failed to return, their companions left, believing they were dead. They continued east, eventually coming upon an injured Oisel who had managed to escape.[6]

Months later, the group arrived at their destination and attacked Dunya, with Kalim being responsible for taking care of their equipment and supplies. The Hidden Ones eliminated the Snake-Eaters and established a new bureau in Chang'an. After spending some time helping to recruit and train new Hidden Ones, Kalim and Jessamyn returned to Alexandria.[7]
