Jessamyn was a member of the Egyptian Hidden Ones based in Alexandria active during the time of the Tulunid dynasty. In 870, she and fellow Hidden Ones Rashid, Kalim, and Sihem accompanied their Frankish brothers Oisel and Matthias along the Silk Road to hunt down the Order of the Ancients member Dunya.[1]

Mission on the Silk Road

In 870 CE, the Egyptian Brotherhood received a letter from the Byzantine Hidden Ones' leader Basim Ibn Ishaq asking for support after he discovered that the Order of the Ancients was active in Antioch. The Alexandrian Hidden Ones sent Jessamyn, Kalim, Rashid, and Sihem to Antioch, where they met Basim and his apprentice Hytham in the bureau outside the capital city of Constantinople. Basim informed them that the Snake-Eaters, a group who protected the merchants on the Silk Road, had started extorting money and attacking the civilians who did not pay for their protection. Since the Snake-Eaters had eliminated the local Hidden Ones, Basim suspected a link with the Ancients. Jessamyn and the others proceeded to investigate the city.[1]

During their investigation, the group met their Frankish brethren from Chinon, Oisel. and Matthias who had also answered to Basim's letter. Together, both groups met Basim in the bureau, where he explained the situation for the two Franks. Basim decided to send both Egyptian and Frankish Hidden Ones to the Silk Road to eliminate the Snake-Eaters while he returned to Constantinople with Hytham.[1]

Leaving Antioch, the Hidden Ones were transported by Kazem, the leader of a caravan. During their travel, Jessamyn and her fellow Hidden Ones shared their stories and skills with Oisel and Matthias. After three months, the group arrived in a small village with a citadel controlled by the Snake-Eaters and their leader Dunya. The group decided to enter in the citadel, with Jessamyn and her fellow Hidden Ones covering Oisel and Matthias, who confronted Dunya. Outnumbered, the Egyptian Hidden Ones fled the citadel, believing that the two Franks were killed. Taking a few documents with them, Jessamyn and the others decided to resume their mission by attacking the Snake-Eaters headquarters in Chang'an.[1]

On the road to China, the group was once again joined by a wounded Oisel, who had crossed the desert after his encounter with Dunya, which resulted in the death of Matthias. The five Hidden Ones arrived in Chang'an and planned Dunya's assassination. After the death of their target and the dissolution of the Snake-Eaters, Jessamyn and Oisel founded a bureau in Chang'an, recruiting members in the population. After few months, Jessamyn returned to Alexandria while Oisel went back to Francia.[1]
