Jacques d'Arc was a French doyen who collected taxes and organized Domrémy's defenses during Burgundian attacks in the Hundred Years' War. He is better known as the French saint and hero, Joan of Arc's father.

To ensure his town's safety, Jacques rented an old fortress on an island in the river as shelter for the townsfolk, their animals, and enough supplies. When attacks block the fortress, however, he leads them to the Neufchâteau. Despite his active participation in the war, he never lets his sons, Jean and Pierre join.
