Galata was one of the four major districts of Constantinople during the Renaissance.
It is also a name of a tower in this district and resides across the waters of the Golden Horn. The most cosmopolitan district of the city, it was full of varied architecture drawing from Italian, Ottoman, Byzantine, Greek and Asian influences.
