However, when Ahmet tried to get to Istanbul, soldiers blocked his way because of his prior incompetence. When his father abdicated and his father abdicated over Ahmet's capture and rule of another's province, Selim became Sultan.

Şehzade Ahmet.

Şehzade Ahmet (1465 - 1513) was an Ottoman prince and the oldest son of Bayezid II. He is also the uncle of Suleiman.

From 1512 until his death, he fought with his father and brother for the Ottoman throne. During this period, he became acquainted with Ezio Auditore da Firenze. He was left in control of Constantinople while his father was away.
