The Data Dump Scanner, more commonly referred to as the DDS, was used by Abstergo Industries in their Project Legacy.
The Data Dump Scanner, more commonly referred to as the DDS, was a device that allowed its user to relive extracted memories. Contrary to the Animus, the DDS did not allow its users to only relive the lives of their own ancestor through genetic memory, but allowed them to relive any memories connected to the device.

Similarly to the Animus, the DDS allowed Abstergo recruits to relive another person's memories, though they did not need to be blood-related to them. Memories from important individuals were collected, and assessed by a large number of participants.
The device was invented and used by Abstergo Industries, who used it in their Project Legacy to obtain information on the Assassins and Pieces of Eden, among other things. Memories used in the project had been previously extracted from certain individuals by the company.

―A DDS welcome message.[src]

The Data Dump Scanner, more commonly referred to as the DDS, was a device that allowed its user to relive extracted memories. Contrary to the Animus, the DDS did not allow its users to only relive the lives of their own ancestor through genetic memory, but allowed them to relive any memories connected to the device.

The device was invented and used by Abstergo Industries, who used it in their Project Legacy to obtain information on the Assassins and Pieces of Eden, among other things. Memories used in the project had been previously extracted from certain individuals by the company.

Much like the Animus, the DDS could sometimes cause its users to experience side effects such as nosebloods, vertigo, nausea or hallucinations.
