The Chesapeake Bay was a large bay running along the coast of Virginia and Maryland.
History
The Bay was the site of the first permanent British settlement in North America, Jamestown, which was established in 1607.
Later, during the American Revolutionary War, the Battle of the Chesapeake occurred in the bay. During the battle, the Continental Army and French Navy were assisted by the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton, who captained a ship, the Aquila, and helped defeat the British Army fleet.
