Charles VII (1403 – 1461) was King of France from 1422 to 1461 during the Hundred Years' War, although his coronation wasn't until 1429.

Due to his mother, Queen Isabeau of Bavaria, being rumored to have lovers, his legitimacy to the throne became questioned, especially by the English and Burgundians. As the fourth in line to the throne, he never expected to become king and became insecure about it.
