Adelaïde was a Hidden One active during the 9th century who was tasked to reestablish the Lunden bureau built during the Roman Empire.
At some point, [citation needed] the Hidden One acolyte Hytham sent Niels Gunnarsson and the captured copyist Edward to Lunden in the belief that they had future potential as members of the order. Adelaide began to train the two young men as their Mentor while they investigated the disappearance of Edward's brother, Ecbert.[1]
Eventually, the Hidden One and her two pupils travelled to the Kingdom of Alba, where a Christian sect was using the Codex of Eden's power to convert the local population. They destroyed the cult by flooding the Loch Ness Temple, an Isu complex which the zealots used as their headquarters. However, in Adelaïde's effort to recover the Codex, she killed Ecbert, who had in fact faked his death and was sent by King Alfred to infiltrate the cult. An enraged Edward assaulted his mentor and she fell to her death after a quick brawl, shattering the Codex in the process. After Adelaïde's death, Edward followed in his brother's footstep by joining Alfred's cause while Niels declined Hytham's offer to join the Brotherhood and opted to remain a free agent.[1]
