Maryland is a state located in the northeastern region of the United States, bordered by Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. It was one of the thirteen colonies that claimed independence from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.
History[edit | edit source]
A year after the Boston Tea Party, a group of Patriots in Annapolis burned the cargo vessel Peggy Stewart, having been buoyed by Ratonhnhaké:ton's Assassin apprentices.[1]
Before the Revolution, Maryland was reluctant to claim independence. The Colonial Assassins eventually convinced the delegates to the Continental Congress to join the fight,[2] and eliminated a Templar who had infiltrated the Maryland Congress.[3] The Congress was slow to make decisions, prompting the Assassins to help its members come to the decision to form a new, permanent government.[4] No major battles were fought in the state during the war, but many people were nonetheless willing to join the fight against the British and formed a regiment with the Assassins' help.[5]
By the end of the Revolutionary War, the Templars had completely abandoned Maryland. Ratonhnhaké:ton later sent his recruits to verify these reports.[6]
