Yaya was taught to fear her strength, but married a man who loved her for it. When he fell in battle, Yaya traveled to Honganji and swore to help defend it against Nobunaga's forces. After ten years of siege, Honganji fell, and Yaya sought her atonement for all that war demanded of her.
When Naoe recovered a treasured keepsake for her, it taught Yaya that true forgiveness begins with the self.
