The Khamudid Lost Blade was a shotel associated with Khamudi, the last pharaoh of the Fifteenth Dynasty of Egypt, that resurfaced centuries later during the Ptolemaic dynasty.
Description
Compared to other shotels, the Khamudid Lost Blade had a less radical curvature. It was relatively plain in design, with a bandaged hilt which ended in an unadorned metal pommel. Its guard itself was no more than a circular platform from which sprung the blade. Fullers ran on either side of the blade, but aside from that, the blade was consistent with the sword's simple craftsmanship.[1]
History
The Khamudid Lost Blade received its name for its presence during the final battles of the Hyksos pharaoh Khamudi as he and his forces made their last stand in Avaris in the 16th century BCE. Although it was lost sometime after the Egyptians completed their recovery of their nation, it resurfaced centuries later in 48 BCE.[1]
