Kyrenaika Roman Citadel

The Kyrenaika Roman Citadel was a Roman citadel next to the Aquaeductus Kyrenaike in Cyrenaica. During the mid 1st century BCE, it was overseered by Agrippa, a general who served under Flavius Metellus, the proconsul of Kyrenaika and Cyrene.

History[edit | edit source]

In 47 BCE, the Medjay, Bayek of Siwa, travelled to the outskirts of the citadel, where he freed a Siwan farmer Kade, who was captured by the Romans to work on weapons preparations for an invasion of Egypt. Subsequently, he and Kade freed the other farmers before leaving the citadel.[1]

Later on, Bayek was requested by the Roman engineer Vitruvius to retrieve a formula of a fire weapon which he was forced to create for Agrippa, meanwhile destroying the weapon stockpiles. Bayek agreed and helped him to do so, assassinating Agrippa simultaneously in the citadel.[1]
