The English Channel is a part of the Atlantic Ocean that flows through the south of England, north of France, and to the North Sea.[1]
History
In 872, a number of Raven Clan Vikings left Rygafylke, Norway, and followed their leaders Sigurd Styrbjornsson and his foster sister Eivor Varinsdottir in sailing through the channel to England in search of a new home.[2]
In 875, Eivor journeyed to Vinland after the British Hidden One Hytham informed her of Gorm Kjotvesson's presence there and his work for the Order of the Ancients. With the help of the ferrywoman Nessa, she sailed for weeks past the channel to find and assassinate Gorm.[3] During her subsequent travels and adventures, Eivor sailed through the channel to visit and build alliances with England's other shires.[4]
By 885, Eivor was the Raven Clan's jarlskona and joined Toka Sinricsdottir's mission to fight against West Francia's ruler, King Charles, in hopes of putting a stop to Charles' plans for England. Together, they sailed across the English Channel to join Toka's forces in Francia.[5]
