In Assassin's Creed III, several outfits are available to those who complete certain challenges. Once an outfit is unlocked and equipped, it will alter the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton's appearance. However, unlike armor, most of these costumes do not affect any other gameplay elements. Outfits can be unlocked through a variety of methods, which are listed below.
General appearance
Special outfits
Assassin robes
These are Ratonhnhaké:ton's regular robes, unlocked upon the completion of Sequence 5.
Captain of the Aquila
The Captain of the Aquila outfit was a captain's uniform worn by Ratonhnhaké:ton. Although similar in appearance to the default outfit worn when on board the Aquila, it was not the same one. It was also more formal in appearance and had several notable differences. It could be unlocked for use in free-roam by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition of Assassin's Creed III, or by pre-ordering the game at Amazon.[1][2]
Colonial Assassin
The Colonial Assassin outfit was previously owned by the Assassin John de la Tour. It could be unlocked for use in free-roam by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition of Assassin's Creed III,[1] or by pre-ordering the game at either Target, or Play.com.[2][3]
Ezio's robes
Unlocked through Uplay for 30 points, Ezio Auditore da Firenze's Roman Assassin robes, worn during the events of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, were available from the outfit rack in the basement of the Davenport Homestead's manor.
Prisoner clothes
The Prisoner clothes outfit was automatically unlocked after the assassination of Thomas Hickey.
Altaïr's robes
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's robes were available after attaining 100% synchronization on all DNA Sequences.
Captain Kidd's robes
Captain Kidd's robes were unlocked on the completion of the Oak Island naval memory.
Achilles' original outfit
Achilles' original outfit was available on the completion of the Achilles' Painting memory.
Kanien'keha:ka Outfit
The Kanien'keha:ka outfit was unlocked after collecting all of the feathers in the Frontier. This outfit was originally worn by Ratonhnhaké:ton before his initiation into the Assassin Order.
Trivia
- Ratonhnhaké:ton's robes always appeared in their default color during cutscenes, even if the outfit was sporting a colony's dye. Other outfits would show during cutscenes however.
- Regardless of equipped outfits, Ratonhnhaké:ton always wore his Captain's outfit during Naval Missions.
- Unlike the bow, the quiver that contained Ratonhnhaké:ton's arrows does not show on Ezio's robes. Also, there is no bracer on his right arm, despite the Hidden Blade extending from the outfit's sleeve.
- The original concept of the Colonial Assassin outfit was quite similar to Ratonhnhaké:ton's default attire, with a cloak and the outfit's primary color displaying some of the notable differences.
- Also, the original concept of the Captain of the Aquila outfit had Ratonhnhaké:ton with its tricorn hat above his hood.
- Achilles' original outfit was previously owned by the Assassin John de la Tour, who then passed it down to Achilles.
- The Captain of the Aquila and Captain Kidd outfits showed Double Holsters for Flintlock Pistols. However, Ratonhnhaké:ton could not use them if the Double Holsters had not been crafted through the accounting book at the Homestead.
