Éléna: Difference between revisions

I would not be so quick to move it back to Alianna given the untrustworthiness and unprofessionalism of the English edition. |

Éléna was a Hidden One who operated in Central Asia during the mid-8th century.
Biography
In August 751,[1] she led a group of Hidden Ones out along the Talas River on a hunt for troops of the Abbasid Caliph Abul Abbas As-Saffah. There, they arrived at the site of the Battle of Talas just after it had finished and saved the life of a young Tang soldier named Li E.[1] Through this chance meeting, Li E was recruited into their organization,[1] with Éléna instructing him in their principles, martial arts, and acrobatics.[2]
Skills and abilities
Éléna was fluent in the Persian language which she used as a common language of communication among her fellow Hidden Ones. At the time of her first meeting with Li E, however, she could neither speak nor understand Chinese, and this language barrier led to the Tang soldier momentarily mistaking her for a hostile.[1] By 754, she and Li E had learned to communicate in a common tongue well enough for her to properly instruct him in the ways of the Hidden Ones.[2]
Éléna was skilled at using twin sabers from horseback. When the suspicious Li E attacked her on impulse upon her greeting, she was able to fend off his strikes and disarm him despite being taken aback.[1]
Behind the scenes
Éléna is a supporting protagonist in the manhua Assassin's Creed: Dynasty, first debuting in Chapter 5 as an instructor to the main protagonist, Li E. Her name is not revealed until her next appearance in Chapter 9 when a flashbacks illustrates how she first became acquainted with Li E.
In the manhua, her name is originally transliterated into Mandarin as 阿蓮娜 (Āliánnà). In the French edition, it is rendered as Éléna instead. The English edition currently only uses the Mandarin form of her name rather than her native name.
