The Thirty Tyrants was a group of pro-Spartan oligarchy that was installed in Athens following the poli defeat during the Peloponnesian War. Led by Critias, the oligarchy was elected as a tyrannical government, who oppressed the Athenians and killed five percent of the city's population.[1]

With the help of the misthios Kassandra, the oligarchy's leader Critias was killed at the Battle of Munychia,[2] resulting in the overthrow of the government.[1]
