Sun Yat-sen (12 November 1866 – 12 March 1925) was a Chinese revolutionary and politician who led the Xinhai Revolution. He served as the Provisional President of the Republic of China in 1912, and co-founded the Kuomintang after the revolution, serving as its first leader. Along with his wife Soong Ching-ling, Sun was also a Grand Master of the Templar Order, as part of its Shanghai Rite.
On 12 March 1925, he was killed by members of the Assassin Brotherhood. His death led to a crisis among his Rite as the Chinese Templars had difficulties trying to recruit the new leader of the Kuomintang, Chiang Kai-shek, as tensions were quickly growing in China.
