Yavuz Sultân Selim Khan, entitled Hâdim-ül Haramain-ish Sharifain, also known as Selim I (October 10, 1470 – September 22, 1520) was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1512 until his death in 1520.
In 1512, after having dethroned his father Bayezid II as Sultan and taking the title himself, Selim marched towards Constantinople, finding his brother Ahmet facing off against the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Sofia Sartor. Selim, revealing that his father had ultimately chosen him as his successor, started strangling Ahmet and eventually pushed him off a nearby cliff, killing him.
Selim turned to Ezio Auditore, who had watched the scene unfold, and told the Assassin that his son Suleiman spoke quite highly of Ezio. It was only for his son's respect for the Assassins that Selim spared Ezio's life, and he told Ezio to get out of Constantinople and not return. Ezio responded by pointing his sword towards Selim's throat but was stopped by Sofia, and Selim continued his march towards Constantinople laughing.
